Hi - This is my first post as a "farmgirl". The UFO's caught my eye! I would love to join a UFO club. I can't even begin to list (or find) them all. I have lots of "PIGS"....projects in grocery sacks....too! A few of us in my quilt guild started a UFO Club several years ago and spent more time organizing our UFO 3-ring binder than finishing anything. I still have the binder AND most the unfinished projects!
Anyway, my current to finish list includes:
1. Finish pillow for quilt guild fabric challenge.
2. Finish putting yo-yo's on 7 Bags for 7 Sisters wallhanging project.
3. Make bais tape for apron that didn't get done for THIS 4th of July!
4. Plant stuff that's still in greenhouse containers.

Don't want to overwhelm myself! Hope this helps get s few things done.

Blessed be,
soleil

Welcome to the Farmgirl Connection, Linda. Yes, Amy, I have made patterns from things before, but not from clothing. That's a new challenge for me. And I must confess that I have sinned already! I had some coupons for Jo-Ann's and some money from sewing lessons I teach and I bought some new fabric and patterns. Forgive me, Farmgirls! And because it has been over 100 degrees here and hazy, hot and humid, I have not been motivated to do anything (we don't have AC) so I haven't touched my UFOs. We must all be the same when it comes to mending, though. My family calls my mending pile the black hole, but people think you enjoy mending if you like to sew! Dianne

I like the pigs-I too have things in bags! So easy to organize that way! I have 3 baby quilts I want to finish & add to my blog for sale! But first I have to finish getting ready for the wedding.

What a great topic to make my first post in! I might very well hold the title of Supreme Queen of UFOs. Not sure what I'm going to do first. I think it's going to be a bag of my own design that I am currently writing a pattern for. It will be my second published pattern. After I photograph it I'll be sending the bag to a friend. I think I like starting a project much more than finishing one. Too many quilts in various stages of construction to count...

Karla...beautiful Amish Wall Quilt. The colors are so striking!

I haven't quilted in years...never did anything bigger than a baby-crib
quilt. I was more into the doll quilts and just doing blocks for group
quilts and wall quilts like yours. I seem to be a person that does something
for a long time...then gets bored...and moves on to a new form of stitching,
and I just keep repeating that cycle. I like the idea that you are going to
post your finished projects. Cool idea!

Blessings,
~peggy

Thanks for the welcome, Dianne. Went on road trip to my favorite quilt shop today and bought fabric for yet another new project. This one's not a UFO but a "FIB"....fabric in bag! Must be why I have so many UFO's. This one has to get finished as it's sample for new quilt class I'm teaching in the fall. I teach quilting and have a small pattern company. There are always more new ideas in my head then I could ever get done. Did get a door and some windows and screens painted. Too bad they weren't on the "list"!

Your little quilt was so cute, Karla. Congrats on the "FO"!

Blessed be,
soleil

Oh and the not buying anything new was only for my own personal self - the finishing of the UFO's was more the object of the thread. I still haven't posted my sewing projects because I'm scared and that's because my fabric stash/project heap is out of control. I'm working on my self control.....

This is too funny. Here's another question...at which point do you usually abandon a UFO? I don't seem to get further than washing the fabric and cutting it out and, ironically, I love the sewing part and hate the laying out and cutting of patterns. Crazy? Dianne

Dianne - that's so funny - I do the exact same thing and I feel the same way about cutting out vs. sewing. I have 3 projects cut out and haven't sewed them together - go figure.

Abandon a UFO? Is that a possiblity??? I haven't yet -I just move them & continue to work on them from time to time!

I finished knitting my slanted stripes scarf!! Yay - now I need to block it so I don't get to cross it off my list quite yet. Oh and I finished the snowman too but need more yarn to do the eyes, nose and hat - not in the budget this week. Amazingly the snowman only took one afternoon - one afternoon and a year and a half to get around to doing it:) Oh well..... I'm working on the hat now, getting into a groove.

Well, I didn't actually cut any fabric yet but did most of the math for the quilt I'm designing for a class. Making the quilt is the easy part! I did arrange the blocks for the 7 sisters yo-yo wallhanging which was even on my UFO list!!! Might fasten the yo-yo's with buttons.

Got distracted by a new pattern for the cutest little knit heart dishcloth. Who doesn't love an easy project that gets done FAST!

Cute and fast is awesome!! And the layout part of projects is what gets me bogged down a lot of the time so good for you for getting it done:)

Hurray for me! I got the yo-yo's sewn on my quilt block with a bunch of vintage buttons. It's only taken me 9 years to do that block! Assembling the rest of the top will be easy.

Don't know if this is going to work but I'm going to try to add a picture of the block. It's just laying on another quilt - that's not part of the wallhanging.

Blessed be,

Thanks Joanna!
The block is now in it's proper place with it's friends in the wallhanging. Just have to figure out how I'm going to quilt it. That's not my favorite part! I like the piecing.

Seems like there are always too many "have to do" new projects that get in the way of all those UFO's!

Blessed Be...

Just finished a new project (not officially a UFO). It's a tunic blouse I made for myself. I'll try to photograph it for this forum. Today I'm on to an apron or two in my UFO pile. Dianne

I've really attacked my UFO list lately but I have started more things and have ideas for using my stash.

Grilling apron for hubby
Totes made from plarn
decorations for daughter's flower garden room
Christmas gifts (tote bag, chef hats, CD holders, etc.
