Hi all!
Looking to sell eggs at the local farmers market,
but I won't make much profit if I spend it all on packaging!
Does anyone know a great, cheap online source for them?
THANKS!
(I am having friends collect theirs to start, and covering the
front with a printed label! RECYCLING!)

I charge 50 cent deposit on egg cartons for 18 pac size, and 35 cents for doz size, so I have not had to buy them in many years, when I did, I got them from a place called "Egg cartons etc.com" don't know if they are still around or not, I would just google egg cartons and see what happens, good luck...

Elizabeth, maybe put an ad on craigslist. I have friends who give me an endless supply. Good luck, Carol

Make sure you check what your state's regulations are on selling eggs at a market like that. In Michigan you have to have brand new egg cartons with the correct sizing and the sellers contact information on them. eggcartons.com is one of the best places I've found for them.

Elizabeth I get my cartons on EBay. Make sure they are new. I get the paper ones with no printing. That way I just make labels on my computer. I take pictures of my chickens and feature different chicken each week. My customers love it. You can buy the labels at Sam's or Office Depot. If you watch your bidding you can get some really good deals. I pay an average of 10 cents per carton but I usually buy in large lots. I have also bought misprint cartons for about the same price. But if you are going to sell to the public you must use new cartons. Some of my customers that buy direct from my house will bring their own cartons. I give them a 25 cent discount but make sure they get their cartons. You can get into some serious trouble from the USDA for selling in used cartons.

I've already checked about the regulations...
I use used (washed) cartons when I sell from home.
Eggs sold here in NY must be candled, graded, washed and sized.
Takes me longer to do that than it took the chicken to LAY IT!
