I am looking for an egg gathering basket. Prefer an old one, metal, in good condition as gathering eggs is what I will be doing with it. Don't know what I would have to barter but I bet we could figure out something.

Chicklettes and Peeplettes.

I see them often at our Flea Markets and Junk Shops for just a few dollars, so if you don't find one, let me know and I'll get one for you. Hugs, Lin

Karla,
I am not sure for barter. I collect advertising china, buttons, bits and pieces of Bakelite, have some lovely vintage teacups and saucers, and a rather cool celluloid thread (spool) holder that needs to be seem. I am a major button (sewing)collector. Does any of that interest you? Of course I would forward a picture of whatever.
Thank you for responding.

Hi Darcy,
How many chickens do you have? Wondering what size basket your looking for. Let me know, I may have an extra one kicking around for you

Joanna,
I have 7 chicklettes and 2 peeplettes (who won't be laying until about Sept.) Right now 2 are broody and not laying but around here you never know what they will do!!
Thank you for responding. A basket would be so nice. I got one on ebay that they said was vintage but it is not a real egg basket and was probably made last week in China! (I have lost 2 eggs from the width in the metal sides. My fault, should have seen that would happen.

Darcy,
I have one that is metal and it is in the shape of a chicken. Works great, I used it all the time until I increased the size of my flock.
I will take a picture for you to see. Will post it tomorrow for you.
Then you can let me know if your interested.

Hey Darcy, I noticed that Karen (kpaints) has a wire basket in her etsy shop for very little money. Im not sure if it was what you were thinking of but it is really cute. http://www.etsy.com/listing/48067539/wire-mesh-basket?ref=sr_list_8&ga_search_query=wire+basket+kitchen&ga_search_type=vintage&ga_page=2&order=&includes[]=tags&includes[]=title

Joanna-
Sounds cute. I am bartering with Denise so I think this is covered.
How much did you increase your flock size by? How many did you start with?
Are you new to the chicken world? Having fun with the ladies?
Thank you again for assisting me.

Hi Darcy,
I started with 6 and have increased to 13 ( we lost a couple along the way. . we had 15 originally) I am new to it, 2 years now. Love my girls, they are spoiled and they know it! Today has been a very tough day for them. . it hit 103 in the sun. . that's 100 in the shade, just keep giving them cold water and lots of shade.

Hope you have fun with yours! Glad you found an egg basket too!

Hi Darcy,

If your barter falls through, I just purchased an old wire one on ebay for $5.00 plus shipping. I have 12 girls and none of them will start laying until the fall either. But they are so much fun! We have actually put our lawn chairs in their pen area and every night after supper we go sit out there with them. We also bring our bunny Oggie out with us so he and all of them will get use to each other. Right now I call him the Chicken Herder, he runs at them and they all flee back into the coop!

Hi Joanna,
I think it is not hard to spoil them! Until my garden starts producing my chicklettes and peeplettes get some really nice stuff from the produce section! It has been hot here but definitely not the temps you are getting. Are your ladies producing less with this heat?

Hi Ginny,
Thank you for the back up offer. I will keep that in mind. Sounds like your ladies are keeping you well entertained! Aren't they a blast? I was told before I ever got a coop that they were so amusing but you have to see to believe. You should post a pic of your bunny and your chicklettes. I would love to see that!
What kinds do you have?
Blessings,
Darcy

The Girls are like me, don't like the heat. . . give us a cold day and we are super happy! I get 2-3 eggs a day in this heat. . and I don't blame them. . I would not want to lay either!
