I am just so upset. On Father's Day, I placed a black cast iron urn with some ferns in it, on my Dad's grave stone. I was so happy to be able to drive by (it's on my way to the dog park) and see it. Yesterday, I take Molly to the dog park and guess what? It's gone. I just can't believe someone would steal from a cemetery. All the other graves have potted flowers and plants in various containers. Why did they steal mine? I am just sick about it. I think I will put an ad in the local paper and ask for it to be returned. I am almost afraid to put anything else there for fear of it too being taken.

Yes that happens often unfortunately :( I think it was a random act by some hooligans who have nothing "better" to do that hound graveyards and hurt people. SO sorry for you.

Unfortunally it happens a lot. Cemeterys are not usually watched by police or camera's. I would put it in the paper and on your local TV new's station. Some poor mom may have recieved it as a gift. The more it's put out there the better chanches of getting it found. I am so sorry this has happened to you.

Hope all your days are Sunnydays.

You would not believe the stuff that gets stolen from a grave sight
....but it happens A LOT!

It is rampant at a local cemetery here in town. Pure desecration.

Sick, sick, sick-

The sad thing is how do you monitor something like that?

Diane, I am sorry that happened!! It probably feels like a "personal violation" on some level!!
Our house was burglarized twice while we lived in Phoenix and my car was broken into just recently while parked at the Phoenix airport .. . . it's an "icky" feeling.

Hopefully it will be retrieved and returned!!!

If you have any scrap yards in the area, give them a call. That is where all the stolen things from our grave yards end up. They used to take just the brass plates and urns, but times are tough and cast iron has a value too. Scrap theft is very big here. People go on vacation and come back to their copper pipes missing from the basement.

Diane,

I'm so sorry! I can't believe that people would stoop that low either. I hope you can get it back.

Diane, that's terrible. I don't think these grave robbers think, hey, this is somebody's deceased daughter, or son, or friend that we're stealing from.

When my mother passed away, grave robbers actually unscrewed the brass letters on the marble slab and stole them. I call it "sick".
Sorry that happened to you.

That is terrible Marly!! Some people go as far as stealing the nocking down the stones just for fun. It is sick. We always pray and hope that my baby sisters grave stone never gets stolen.

I am so sorry this has happened to you. We have had problems with that around here. My Dad always takes my Mom a red rose every Friday and about 3 times they have disappeared. It's sad that someone could do something like that.

Diane,
This breaks my heart, I can't understand how people can be so cruel. How can people have so little respect is being my small mind to comprehend.

I know how heartbreaking it can be. My friends daughter's baby died a few hours after it was born and they had an angel figurine on the top of her gravestone and someone actually stole the angel from the baby's grave. How heartless can people be???? You have my sympathies.

Blessings, Sheri

We have 4 cemeterys in my area, they are all very old, several years ago they had someone sneaking in and digging up the old graves(late 1800's to early 1900's) to steal jewels and gold teeth. Also if anyone left anything of value on the grave site that was stolen also. Several old timers took turns guarding at night and they caught several people, unfortunatly, its a fine and maybe a short jail sentence. It is really sad that there are this many really sick people in this world...
