For our 25th anniversary, my husband decided that he wanted to see Yellowstone. So last Friday, after work, we left for Yellowstone. We got there sometime eary Sunday morning.

We drove across a corner of Washington State and Idaho and in to Montana. I thought about the Farmgirls who live in these states. It was pretty much a whirlwind tour but we got to see a wolf; lots and lots of buffalo; deer; elk; and Old Faithful TWICE!! The Old Faithful Lodge is pretty impressive. The gift shops are the same no matter where you go--overpriced and the only thing that changes is what's printed on the tshirt!

We also walked around several of the thermal areas, both mud and water. It's one thing to read about or see pictures. It is different up close.

On the way home, we drove through Grand Teton NP and the mountains were spectacular. I grew up in Alaska surrounded by huge, craggy, snowy mountains. The Tetons are magnificent.

We stayed in different hotels but they all had the complimentary breakfast. I was reminded each morning about all you Farmgirls and your desires to live and eat more healthfully. I don't think the juices were real. I mean, the oj had no pulp. And the other options were breads, waffles, muffins. For the first time I was conscious of what I was/was not eating and I could understand why so many of you grow and make your own food. Didn't stop me from eating; just caused me to wonder.

I appreciate and enjoy reading all the various opinions and experiences of all the Farmgirls. Thank you.

My Daughter is spending 3 weeks in August backpacking and camping in Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons, I can honestly say I am jealous of you both, lol. I asked her to try and get some pic.s of wolves, and to sing with them at night (I am 3/4 Lakota and my totem is the wolf, my native American name is "wolf rider"), so keep your fingers crossed. I love un-spoiled nature, and its a crying shame there is so little of it left...

Isn't that a magnificent trip?!! My late dh and I made that trip from western Wa. many years ago, we just needed to "get outta town", so picked up and got gone. I'll never forget it, all the wildlife, Old Faithful, and everything else that goes along with Yellowstone, we also went through the Tetons, and I think I was more impressed with them, than anything, I will never forget that trip and I'll bet you won't either!! Thanks for sharing with us.
