Today the weather here in Billings has been wild. We started our afternoon at the park for a early summer concert to support the local food bank. The sky was partly cloudy but no dark clouds or large clouds around. Then about 3 o'clock the sky started to change. The white clouds began to grow and turn dark. The winds started to pick up about 4 then about 4:15 the sky opened up with lite showers at first then it started to hail. That then turned to a down pour and we ran for our vehicle. As we were driving home about a mile away we noticed a low cloud coming our way. It was very black in color. We get home and a message from our daughter stating that she saw a tornado heading our way. We turned on the TV and the news was on stating that the northeast part of Billings had just experienced a tornado. This was less then a mile east of our house. We figure that low black cloud was the last part of the tornado we saw just before we got back home. We are safe but this year the weather in town has been crazy.

We got heavy rain and lots of thunder in Laurel. Have you checked out the youtube video of the tornado eating the Metra Park yet, Madelynne? It's linked at www.billinggazette.com I am amazed at how destructive they can be. Glad you are both safe!!

Wow! Amazing. Glad to hear that you are safe. That would be a little close for my comfort, I think!

Hi, hail and wind in Helena, Montana, but no tornado. Wow, to think of that big arena without its roof. Tornados are frightening. Hope all are well. Suzanne

Oh my....

I am so glad to hear that you are safe and sound.

It's scary getting caught in weather like that-seems you just can't get home fast enough!

Thank you all. A fellow co-worker was right in the parking lot where the tornado started. She was still wound up this morning at work. She had lived in more tornado pron areas but had never really seen one before yesterday that close. I must say that the area is doing quite well for all the flooding in Downtown Billings and the tornado from yesterday. A lot of damage but no one hurt real bad or killed.

Thanks again.
