I know it is the last day of May but I am new around here. I want to tell everyone who has a kitty or dog in their care please educate yourself about 'pet cancer'.

Early Pet Cancer Warning Signs, As Identified By The Veterinary Cancer Society.

1. Persistent, abnormal swelling
2. Sores that do not heal
3. Loss of weight
4. Loss of appetite
5. Bleeding or discharge from any body opening
6. Offensive odor
7. Difficulty eating or swallowing
8. Hesitation to exercise or loss of stamina
9. Persistent lameness or stiffness
10. Difficulty breathing, urinating or defecating

If your pet has any of these early warning signs, visit your veterinarian as soon as possible for a complete examination.

Just an addition this can also apply to Horses. I have watched two horses die of cancer on from skin cancer and one from liver cancer. The skin cancer one had items 2. 3. and 6 and the liver cancer one had 1. 3. 4. 7. 8. and 10.
Thanks Kendy for the reminder and welcome to MJF.

I lost my beloved Doberman last year to bone cancer. He wasn't that old, but it spread fast, and we lost him after three months. One of my best friends is a vet, and some great advice she recently passed to me: Don't water your dogs/cats in plastic bowls. The water sits all day and the chemicals from the plastic can leach into their water.

Good tip Nicole. My cat is actually allergic so we use glass bowls for him.

If you are up to posting your doggy on the memory wall go here:
