I am wanting to make my five year old a rag doll for Christmas. I have never made one before. I am on a very tight budget. It has to be super easy and super cheap.

I don't really care about size. I more than likely will hand sew it.

I would be more than glad for tips too.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Hi Amy,

I have a pattern for a super cute rag doll. Go to ebay and look up McCalls 3139 so that you can see what it looks like. I don't see it available on the McCalls site any longer. The pattern does not look all that difficult. If it is something you are interested in, let me know and I will get it out to you.
Take care,
hugs
Marcy

Ya wouldn't have to buy a pattern. I have made one with the shape of a skirt and top (other than face) made print so it is shirt and bonnet. That type of doll is easy and fun.
found the pic...

The easy doll is on the left...no seperate clothes...you could make the face a seperate piece of cloth sewn on the head.
see what I mean by this pattern? I just drew it out...don't forget a 1/4 inch seam. The pattern will appear "fatter" than the doll will be.
You can also make a dolly with a store bought pillow for the body and just add head, arms and legs. The arms and legs are about the same length and just shape the pillow by little tucks at shoulders and hips and sew them down. If you make the size 20 inch newborn...it will wear regular infant clothes...that's the easiest way to do.
Hope this helps ya.

Thanks so much to everyone.

It means so much to me. I am going to be able to make more than one.

It has been a tight year and I am trying to make a homemade Christmas.

I want Christmas to be more meaningful. Not just tons of crap from the store.

Amy, you'll have to post pictures! And kudos for the homemade Christmas.
