Cathy,
I just saw this. I am reserving June 19 on my calender. Please keep us posted on how many would be able to come. Will hubbys be allowed in the area? I know we undoubtedly would want some group time, but we do love that park and I'd feel uncomfortable coming all by meself.

Oh, dear. I'd love to but I was recruited to work as a census enumerator throughout the months of May and June. The US Census is a cruel mistress! No days off for me or they'll replace me.

It really doesn't make any difference to me. I have one date in July I could not come, I have to check it again. There are always some that wouldn't be able to attend on any given day, so I would say choose a date and let those that can---come. Others can make the next meeting.
Thanks for your work in trying to get the Corkers organized, Cathy.

June 19 is good for me. Some of my family members will probably come and make a day of it. They will be fine with me spending some time apart from them for our gathering.

Thank you for geting the ball rolling!

Hi everyone! thanks for replying.

Let's be sure to get everyone....how about an AUGUST DATE? Can everyone get there in August. With the later date we may get a better turnout.

okay, My weekends in August are free right now,(knock on wood-KOW) so I say we try for the third or fourth weekend in August. Winding down our summer with our first meeting, so we can tell tall tales!

Third or fourth weekend, lets vote!

At this point August is up in the air. At the end of August my weekends are usually spent canning spaghetti sauce and jams. I will try to make it to our first gathering.

How does August 21 sound to you ladies?

How is everyone's spring/summer? My home garden is doing well; I will visit my long distance garden this weekend. Something is nibbling at my pea vines, so they are almost non-existant. So far we have had rhubarb, radishes and Swiss chard from the garden. The local strawberry season was sad. I ended up buying a flat of seconds strawberries at the market to make strawberry jam.

I have been repurposing things to decorate the garden. So far I have an old large pasta bowl for a bird bath, a teakettle holding some annual flowers and mismatched flatware for chimes. I found directions for making a totem pole from glass flower vases; if I can get my son-in-law to drill the holes I will make one.

I will be out of state for a family wedding that day; but you ladies go ahead as it will probably be impossible to set a date that is good for everyone!

Good Day Sisters, let me introduce and idea, please let me know what you think. We are having so much trouble getting a date together, so much trouble usually means we are not ready. So how about we start a henhouse and jus chatter about ourselves and get to know ourselve a little better. Then maybe we can work ourselves toward a first real meeting? I have not one clue how to go about the henhouse thing, maybe one of you do?
