BloominGA, good to see a ga girl. I live in Macon. I think that I may have one or two pound cake recipes. Did you want a plain one or flavored? Barbara

Either is fine. I just love a good pound cake! Whereabouts in Macon are you? I live a stone's throw from the "new" mall in Centerville. |

Funny I guess you could say I live a stones throw from our new mall....if you had a strong arm. I will see if I can lay my hands on a good recipe for you. Barbara

Well hey ya'll. It's so good to see more Ga. girls on here. I lived in Statesboro and am now in N. Ga. But my parents live in Metter. We go through Macon to get there.
My mom is the pound cake queen in this family. So I don't make them. Hers are so good with the crunchy kind of moist top. My favorite part! I hope yours turns out good, Sherri.

I'd LOVE to see a recipe. I've always wanted to attempt pound cake and my birthday is Thursday which is when I was thinking about making one. I was thinking of attempting a pound cake and some yummy fresh strawberries and fresh maple whipped cream.

Ok, it's the sour cream pound cake she makes that's so good.
3 cups sugar 1 cup butter 6 eggs, separated 3 cups cake flour (and I think she probably uses regular flour) 1/4 tsp. soda 1 cup sour cream 2 tsp. vanilla
Sift soda and flour separately then combine. Beat egg whites til stiff. Cream butter and sugar then add egg yolks, one at a time and vanilla.Add flour mixture alternately with the sour cream, using low speed on mixer. Fold in egg whites. Pour into pan that's been greased and floured. Bake at 300 for 1 hour and 30 minutes or til done. One precaution is to be sure sour cream is fresh.
Hope this helps.

I make a Sour Cream Poundcake with all the same ingredients but put it together differently. Cream butter and sugar, add eggs one at a time, add flour alternately with sour cream, stir in soda and vanilla (lemon is awesome as well)Bake in prepared tube pan placed in cold oven set at 300 for 1 hour and 55 minutes. The crust is crunchy and delicious.

Kristin, that sounds wonderful. On the sour cream do you let it come to room temp or does it matter? delicia |

BloominGa I know you think that I fell of the earth.....not really we just got a new puppy. I forgot that it is like having a baby/toddler again. But here is a recipe from the Perry Hotel: Whipping Cream Pound Cake 1/2 pd butter 3 cups sugar 6 eggs 3 cups sifted flour 1/2 pint whipping cream 1 teaspoon vanilla
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time - beating well after each egg. Add flour and cream alternately. Add vanilla - mix well. Put in cold oven and bake at 300 degrees for 1 hr and 25 min. Cool on rack for 10 min before turning out of tube pan.
Hope that this will work for you - I know of somemore recipes, Barbara

Isn't it the best cake? I love it. And my grandkids eat it like candy. The whole cake is gone in no time when mom makes one. And she's moving up here soon! So she can make at least one a month! Yum! I am so glad yours turned out good.
