I was wondering if anyone has an idea what to make out of tin cans to put into my garden? or free patterns for craft ideas for using tin cans? Need to make something for one of the badges. I would like something cute, and maybe makes a nice noise when the wind blows..
Would love to hear from you farmgirls what you made to earn the badge as well. Pictures would be great to see! I'm a visual person..
Thanks for any ideas! The only one I can think of is a tin man to make..

You can pierce the can with a nail, into a design of your choice, leave it plain or paint, hang it with tea candle inside

I have done a lot of cans the way Teresa is describing. I don't cut up the can, just clean it good, punch the holes in whatever design I want, paint it and us for candles. If you use BIG cans for big candles, I suggest you put the candles in a clear glass container so you don't have melting wax run out of your design nail holes.

I have saved the end of several over the winter . . gonna make them into plant row markers for my garden. I always do that anyway but I want to do something more fun this year.

I fill mine mostly full of water and freeze first. That way they don't bend on you.

Hi Debra,

I have the cutest "tin man" in my garden. He is made from #10 cans and vegetables cans, has bottle caps for eyes, and a funnel for his hat. He is rusted to perfection. I will take a picture and see if I can some how down load it for you.

Yes, mytin man has a little red heart. Okay I took a picture of him on my digital camera. Now to figure out how to post it. I read through Gabe's description of the "how to" and it might as well be in Greek. I need "dummy instructions". LOL

I cannot post pictures, either!
Maybe a savvy Farmgirl would barter that type service!!

This past week I had my grandsons up and I collected enough cans to make a project for badge...We started building a "tinman" Oh how cutie is coming out...Working on legs and face..soon he will be done. Cann't wait to earn my badge and most of all had a great time with my grandsons building it together. You should see there faces as we putting him together. what great memories and fun.

also you can punch holes in the lids in the shape of words, to put in the garden for what veggie is growing there-Peas, beans, etc.

oh and Debra it's pretty easy to make a blog.

I use blogger, it's free!

I've had mine for 8 years, been free the whole time. I use photobucket to host the graphics, it's also free. I use their classic template, but their new one, is really easy just drag and drop, you don't need to know HTML or anything. (mine I like to use HTML so I keep mine in classic template mode, but it's automatically in the new template mode when you start a new blog for beginners).
