I have a question about boxwoods and I am sure that one of you smart people will be able to help me. So here it is. I have a hedge of 29 one year old boxwoods. They were all planted the same. Same fertilize, same water, same exposure. 3 of them turned a bronzy reddish brown in the fall. All of them did a little but these 3 did the most. All of the rest of them have alot of new growth. But these don't. 2 of them have no new growth and 1 only has a tiny new leaf. They aren't dying, they are dark green inside. The leaves are shaped fine, there is no yellowing and the the trunk looks fine. I thought it could be winter injury but shouldn't they be sprouting new growth by now? If any of you have any advice, I would really appreciate it.

I have a boxwood hedge that is three now. Some of them did the same thing the first year so I added an extra 3 inches of mulch around the roots of these plants and watered more than the other ones. They recovered and strangely enough seem to have seed pods on them. The others do not have the seed pods. Maybe there are male and female boxwoods. HMMM? I also trimmed the ones that grew so much better so they would not look so much bigger when the other ones caught up. I rooted the cuttings and now have about 15 more little boxwoods that are one year old going up the border path of another garden.
