Lately I've noticed my need to get on the forum less and less. Maybe it's because of the season....we are so busy planting and cleaning up the farm for our 2nd Annual Spring Fling, but I think it's more like, my time here is over.
When I first came to MJF, I needed to reconnect with me. I'd lost custody of my 14 yo dtr, and my mom to Diabetes. My marriage was on rocky ground... I needed to find out who I really was. I clutched those apron strings of MJ's so tightly I left nail imprints in my hands. I needed a mentor, or 400....lol. I have learned so much from the strong women on this site and have created sound, long lasting friendships that will endure until it is my time to go... however, my 'need' for MJF is not as great as it once was. I have learned to stand strong against the winds of change. I've learned to be one with Mother Nature, to give unselfishly, to honor my legacy and traditions and how to make my dreams, aspirations and visions come to life. I learned how to share and rejoice wholeheartedly with others. I learned who the real Dawn McKinney was and wanted to watch her grow into the great lady I always knew I could be.
Like a baby bird, about to fly solo, I recently have found myself standing on the edge of the nest, looking out at the world in front of me. At first, becoming dizzy with the enormity of it, then, embracing the unknown and taking short flights...always returning home. However, my last flight home has been awhile ago, and now I know I can fly, do, dream, explore and....BE.
To all my close friends, if you need an apron string to hold onto, I've got one waiting....
I (heart) MJF and the wonderful women who've embraced me as a "sister". I know that this will always be "home". Thank you for all the comforts this magical place has given me.

I'm letting go now.....

Dawn,
Boy do I "hear" you! Thanks for sharing . . . I feel very much the same way. Life can batter us around so much sometimes that we get to the point of feeling like we can't breathe. We need to have "apron strings" or some anchor to help us get our breath back again.
THANKS!
GOD BLESS YOU!!
CJ

I'm hearing ya Dawn. I have been feeling that way and posted an "off the air" for awhile post a week ago. but I keep coming back--less and less. I'll keep my toe in but peeking less often.

Good luck to you. MB

Just remember that there is still a lot of baby birds out here who need a momma bird to guide them. The momma bird doesn't need to be around all the time, but the baby welcomes her direction once in a while. You have so much to give and there are so many places and people who could use your wisdom and your talent. Enjoy your new life. I wish you peace, love and joy!
