I am growing my own food and planted some seeds I harvested from a yellow pepper last fall. The seeds did not germinate. I want to harvest seeds from all my veggies, but what did I do wrong? Does anyone know the trick to harvesting seeds, when, how, how to store, how to germinate?
It depends on the varieties. Some seeds need to ferment before they will germinate and some seeds do fine just by drying. Some seeds even need to freeze before they will germinate!

territorial seed company has a catalog for free of the seeds they offer. i use it like a book. it has all the specs for seed saving for each catagory. such as beans or peas. shelf life etc. they will also help you for no charge on the phone. great folks. some seed needs to be stratified. froze awhile. some you need to nick the shell before you plant. their catalog is very helpful to me. they are forward thinking. also carry a wide assortment of heirloom and organic seed. just a thought sherrye
