My brother has a female Treeing Walker coonhound. My Anatolian Shepherd broke his chain and got with her when she was in heat. She's now going to have puppies any day, and we're worried about her. Do y'all think she'll be alright having the puppies? My mom and I tend to think she'll be fine...that nature has a way of working these accidents out. My grandma is less convinced, and thinks we should take her for a C-section, although I think she's a bit confused on the size of both of the dogs. She refered to the Walker as a Beagle, and she's much larger than that! Maybe we should just keep a close eye on her and watch for anything abnormal? She's never had puppies before...
Anyway, what do y'all think?

Went through the same thing. Keep a close Eyeon her. I would still take to a vet pretty soon and talk to him about it and go from there. Anatolin are still pretty big dogs. I have that and great pyannes. |

I wouldn't worry to much as long as the labor progresses as should, if she is really straining, and no puppy, or if she's been in labor for hours and no puppy, then call your vet and take her in. I have seen some very strange mixes over the years, with the male being very large and the female being medium or less and no problems with deliveres. A vet will not do a c-section if theres no need (I would hope anyway), and c-sections can have bad results, mom ignoring pups, no milk, infection, etc. Good luck and let us know...

Maybe the vet could do a check up, either by feel or ultrasound to check on the size of the puppies, then you'd know more about it there is likely to be a problem. Best wishes, they sound like they will be interesting puppies.

Ok just looked at yawls pictures you need to go see the vet forsure. He is really big and chances are things might go fine but a c section is in order more than likly. I also have a question for you you milk your on cows and drink the milk do you do anything to it before drinking or straight from the cow? |

Kayla, You can go to the vet and have them do an X Ray of the mother. If she's due any time, the puppies will show up well on X Ray and they can measure the head width of a puppy and see if they will be too big to pass through her pelvis. If the puppies will be too big, you will have to have a C-Section done. They can be expensive, especially emergency ones. I would err on the side of caution and have an X ray done. I used to work at a vet clinic and X Ray was standard procedure when we were unsure of puppy size.

There are 3 spotted ones, 2 gray with white feet, and 1 solid white...3 girls and 3 boys!
