Today I decided to go with my husband to our old house as he was returning a trailer he had borrowed from an old neighbor. It was very sad, I walked around and looked at the peach tree I planted the year we got married that "MIGHT" have some peaches this year for the first time - the hostas I planted from starts my daughter gave me from the starts she collected from hostas at our old house, the tulips that were the favors from our wedding in 2002, the forsythias I had planted, the asparagus that is finally coming in, the rhubarb, lily of the valley I transplanted from my daughter's apartment, etc... I am definitely in grief mode. We are trying to decide whether to sell the old house or keep it until we are ready to retire (soon, I hope) There are daffodils everywhere, yellow, white, pink, etc. Can't really dig them up till about August, but if we put the house on the market, the new owners will get them..

Awe, Brenda...I'm so sorry :( I say keep it for retirement if it's really where you want to be. For now, we love having you here in MI. (((HUGS)))

oh brenda tough decisions i know. i packed boxes a few days ago. i awoke last night and prayed myself back to sleep. asking for peace in my soul.like you i am a maniac gardener. i have a landscape i built with blood sweat and hard work. i am digging it up now. its wonderful you can have a choice to keep it. i would keep this. with the economy the risk is to high. if he stays out of work we will need to be out of here. married 35 yrs. next month and never out of work like this. i am thinking of you and know your loss. sherrye

Brenda, we lived in a house for 17 years. I had beautiful gardens all over the yard. I started them all. Some things friends gave me from their yards. I loved that yard. Lots of good memories there. It's right next door to my daughter and her fiance. So I get to see it a few times a week. The people that bought it are not yard people. It's all overgrown and messy. But I still see all the things I had planted through the years. I want to go and do things still. It's wierd but it looks so much smaller now. And the veggie garden that I thought wa shuge isn't really compared to what I have now. And I have so much more now. But not the pretty flower gardens. I can't seem to get them going here.
I hope you do what your heart tells you to do. I know it's hard to move and leave all those yeras behind. But you still have the memories in your heart. Maybe the new owners will let you take some of the plants and flowers.
Kris
