My dear farmgirl friends,
I feel a little selfish asking for your thoughts and prayers. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and am in the throws of menopause and now my doc says I have Gout! I am feeling a little like a rusty old beater that should go to the junk yard. A couple of weeks ago, I started having real bad pain in my left ankle. Last Sunday, it swelled up so big I couldn't get my shoes on. I was concerned because that ankle has a metal plate and a steel rod installed in 1999 after an accident playing in the snow with my kids. I called my doctor on Monday and found that he was on vacation. The nurse said to to urgent care. I spent 6 hours there just to have them tell me that I have a lot of metal in that ankle and I should see my doctor! I said "Yeah, I wear my bling on the inside and I was trying to see my doctor!" I went to a stand-in doctor yesterday and he says it looks like Gout. I thought that mostly older men get that. Come to find out that women in menopause get it too. It has something to do with too much uric acid or something. I have to take it easy because the swelling can cause that already injured ankle to have issues. It is just hard because I have a foster dog that was rescued from a high kill shelter and my dog. I don't have a fenced yard so I have to take them out for walks a lot. Bad timing also because my garden is calling my name. Oh well, I will just have to sit with ice on my ankle and crochet some sun-hats. Thanks for listening...Diane

I forgot to mention that the foster dog is in heat and has worms and is not potty trained! Ugh!

Oh my...you got a lot on your hands Diane. I wish I was close and could come help you out, but there's a big lake between us. I can pray for you though. You know, one of my best girlfriends here suffered from RA and fibromialgia for some time and then she had some people pray for her at church and she is completely and totally healed now. No signs of RA at all! God is amazing and He answers prayer!

Father, I just lift Diane up to You. You know her body, inside and out, and you know all the things that she has on her plate that need taken care of. I ask that You will heal her completely, head to toe, and give her body life and energy like she hasn't seen in a long time. I also ask that You will relieve the symptoms of menopause because I know, after watching my mother struggle through it, that's enough to make a woman go crazy sometimes. Father, give her peace and help her to rest in Your care. And while she's getting better, send her some really great friends to help her out for a bit! In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN!

ARTHRITIS: Arthritis patients may take daily, morning and night, one cup of hot water with two spoons of honey and one small teaspoon of cinnamon powder. If taken regularly even chronic arthritis can be cured. In a recent research conducted at Copenhagen University, it was found that when the doctors treated their patients with a mixture of one tablespoon of honey and half teaspoon of cinnamon powder before breakfast, they found that within a week, out of the 200 people so treated, practically 73 patients were totally relieved of pain, and within a month, mostly all the patients who could not walk or move around because of arthritis started walking without pain.

Diane,

What a lot to bear all at once. Hang in there! I've found Estoven, a combination of herbs in a tablet, to be incredibly helpful for my dizziness and hot flashes. Maybe it would help you, too. And along the same lines as Deborah's post above, eating and drinking natural/organic is helpful for removing toxins which interfere with the healing process. Personally, I've found eliminating oils in my diet has reduced joint pain. Hope you get feeling better and my prayers are with you.

My goodness Diane...If I were you I'd head right back to bed!

I am sorry you have arthritis---I can relate, but gout? Don't you have to keep that leg up? Do you have anyone there to help you about over the next couple of days? Wish I were closer...I'd be there in a flash.

Just move a little slooooower today and try to get some rest. The garden will wait...you need to take care of yourself!

I will be thinking of you!

Went to the doctor today and he said it isn't gout. He says I injured it or something. I don't recall...just their way of saying we don't know what it is. I am feeling a lot better anyway, must be all the prayers and thoughts...thank you ladies.
