a big tin chest? I got a bunch of jute sacks (posted about them in the garden gate section) from a local fair-trade importer, and he boxed them up in the "box" that he gets from Nepal, which is actually a tin chest, trunk sized really with hinges and everything. I know there is something really cool I could do with it but I haven't thought of it yet. What would you do with it?

After I won the fight with my girls over whose it was I would use it to store all my gardening tools and whatnot. If I didn't need it for that I would find A good quality clear coat and put several layers on it inside and out. With a few drain holes you could plant your favorite tall flowers in it with the heads just above the top rim, it would make a striking display.

You could spray paint the outside with a good outdoor spray paint like Rustolium and paint designs on it and use it to store outdoor cushions. It could double as a small table by your outdoor chairs.

I have something similar in my basement (sounds the same) and I have never figured out what to do with it, either!

Hi Amy,

What about painting it and using it as storage for blankets, linens? Would it fit under the bed, or even as storage at the foot of the bed.

Plase potted plants at different levels. In seperate pots it will give you a very interested texture for your house use a plastic tub to collect all the water so it won't rust.

What a neat thing to have. Hmmm, you could hide a chocolate stash in it ;) Actually I would probably use it to store blankets and quilts :)

It sounds neat! Let's see? You could find a neat quilt or small native american rug and put it over the top, then add a nice lantern, some magazine's and books, a comfy chair and you'll be all set! ( store back issues of magazine,s or winter throw's and extra linens inside!

I'm sure you'll come up with something just right!

I can picture every single one of those fabulous ideas! Especially the "filled with chocolate" one....hmmm, how much chocolate could I fit in there? It would be mouse proof:)

I have something similar, doesn't sound quite as large as yours but I use it on my porch to put
extra flower pots, and to store seasonal outdoor decor. It makes a perfect table next to my Red Rocking
Chair to set my drink, cell phone and a book on...while I am outside soaking in the sun.
