I finally made myself two new aprons for my beginner and intermediate Aprons Famrgirl badge! When I joined this forum a few months ago I didn't own a single apron. These two will now bring my total (with the one of my great grandma's that my dad gave me and the ones I picked up at the thrift store) aprons up to 8! I love wearing my aprons too :)

Half Apron

Close-up of chicken scratch heart (this was my first time trying chicken scratch embroidery and it was so fun!)

You did a very nice job. I used the heart and a swan print on small pillows. I can send you the swan patteren when I come across it if you want. You are a very pretty young Lady as well I must add. Yours. Lilly

Amy, it's a McCalls pattern that I bought a few years ago. It had three different aprons and I made one for my mom, but never made one for me. Now it's my turn! It's a really nice pattern.

hey Siobhan,
It is so wonderful to see someone do good old fashioned 'chicken sctratch' cross stitchery...a simple & beloved stitchery art..
I luv it as well as candlewicking stitchery....
Your apron is just so very cute...awesome job.
Wear your apron with pride!

Oh my Gawd, you did a fabulous job! That chicken scratch embroidery is beautiful. How on earth do you do all this with three kids? By the way, you are gorgeous, love the pictures.

Diane, thank you :) I have a great husband who doesn't get on me if my house isn't spotless when he gets home from work. He'd much rather see me greet him at the door with a big smile in the new apron that I made and be proud of something than greet him exhausted from cleaning all day :) I've discovered lately that me accomplishing something that I'm proud of helps my oldest son to complete projects so that he has something to show for and be proud of the time he spent on something. We worked together the other day while his little brothers were sleeping. I worked on my chicken scratch embroidery and he worked on a puzzle that he finished and was able to show daddy when he got home. He was so proud of himself. So, I guess I'm lucky that I have a great and forgiving husband and kids who let mommy create.

You are lucky, count your blessings. That is a very good way to teach our children...by example. It makes me sentimental about my daughter and I doing projects together. Alas, she has married and moved to South Carolina! I think I am going to look into the Big Sisters Organization and maybe I could find a surrogate young farmgirl to mentor!
