Where do ya'll order your meat chicks from? I need some good recomendations. I know Murray Mcmurray. But are there others that may be closer to Ga? I think it would be cheaper to order straight from the hatchery than through the feed store. Me and a few others want to go in together and raise some.
Thanks, Kris

I order all my birds thru MM, and have never had a problem, so I can't recommend anyone else.

Teresa, I have never ordered directly. Do they ship to me or the PO?

They would most likely be delivered to your local post office, and you would pick them up there first thing in the morn.

Meyer is cheap and we've been happy with their meat chicks as well as other chicks |

Is this a good time to order them? Or maybe closer to fall? I was just thinking about waiting til later then it won't be hot when we butcher them. I don't like doing that when it's so hot. Just wondering.

Oh yeah Kris, they only go about 8 weeks or so before butchering, you probably would want to wait until cooler weather! As it is now, ours will be ready before it (hopefully) gets too hot here. One of ours died overnight.... not sure why, he wasn't looking too good yesterday, I am hoping it's just an isolated weak heart type of thing, but I am keeping a good eye on the rest of the flock today. Ours were ordered from TSC, who uses Mt. Healthy hatchery. Hatched last Wednesday, PO called me Thursday at 7:00 am. All have been completely healthy. The one who died I had bought earlier in the week right from the bins at TSC.
