A couple years ago our neighbors were down and out and in need of a washer and dryer. We sold them ours (we were moving, didn't need it, and the new owners weren't going to need them either) for ridiculously cheap...like $20 for the pair. They were pretty new, too. We figured it was just some kindness being passed around.
Today, my husband shows up with an almost brand new 40 inch tv. We have never had anything bigger than a 19 inch. I freaked out (and not in a good way) and said "What do you think you're doing bringing this home????" He smirks and says "Brad (our old neighbor who my husband still works with) said they didn't need it anymore (got a new plasma with their tax refund) and asked if I wanted to buy it from him." So me, still thinking hubby dropped a ton on this completely frivolous item, said "Great, how much did you spend?" He smirks again and says "Ten bucks."
Kind of a nice way to start the day. ;)

Yes it does. One way or another. That's so neat, Amy. You just never know what will happen. My hubby wants a big ole tv but ours isn't broken yet. So we will keep it til it conks out I guess.

How nice! Give and you shall receive. I love it. Enjoy the TV. Marly

Woohoo! I totally believe and practice this principal. Like the Bible says, "Give, and it will be given to you, pressed down, shaken together and running over!" My what a blessing!

good job good choices. we are preparing to possibly vacate our place. so i called about a greenhouse. it had been sold. the gal wanted to call the other people and tell them they could not have it. she wanted to sell it to me. i live down the road.i said no it would not be right. i was disappointed for sure. 3 days later she called and said it was to big for them to move so far. they did not buy it. i was able to buy it on payments. i will have it paid next week.they are fiberglass preformed and now i have 2. i love them. you are so right about paying it forward.

I loved your story and just today I have one to add. We have a couple of neighbors that we have over for meals at least once a week and my husband takes them to Dr. appointments and where they need to go. Today, he took them to town to buy a new lawnmower and came home with 4 new patio chairs. They were over eating last night and heard us talking about wanting to get new ones. They got a $100 shopping card when they bought their lawnmower and used it to buy chairs for us! It really amazes me when people do something like this for us. My husband will never take money for driving them around and this was their way of returning the favor. It made me feel warm and fuzzy and afternoon.
