Hi Farmgirls,

We have been busy here on the new farm. I'm starting new flower beds around the 50 trees we just planted and I'm looking to trade for iris, daylilies, & some comfrey. We have 50 acres and not a flower in sight! If I do not have anything you are looking for I'm willing to give $$ & will pay for priority shipping to Louisiana. I'm willing to trade out of my store www.crunchycountry.com and have a nice handcrafted comfrey/calendula healing salve which can also be found in my store, unbleached hemp french terry fabric, unbleached hemp fleece fabric, PUL for cloth diapers in new bright colors, scrapbook alphabet stamps, & misc scrapbooking items.

Thanks!

~Nicole

Nicole, I'll be thinning my Irises this year, but not until mid-summer. They've just started blooming, so I can actually mark the colors! Anyway, I'm happy to send some if you can wait. If yes, don't hesitate to email me around the fourth of July to send them.

That sounds great Sharon! I'll add you to my contacts. We've searched high and low in our area for these wonderful plants. No one sells Iris anymore. :(

I can give you all kinds of iris starts!!! We have a ton of iris's on our property and they really need to be split. You might want to tell me where to break it off so that you get what you need as I've never done that before.

I don't know what daylilies look like but I think I have tiger lilies??? The family that lived here before really liked bulbs and tubers.

I have comfrey but I'll have to look at it to be sure it're ready to split. I actually traded another farmgirl the comfrey for some of my mint last year....and now it may be moving on to another farmgirl. I just love to barter & trade. It's fun and so much more friendly than going out and buying things.

I would love to trade Nicole. I am interested in the either or both the comfrey/calendula hand salve and the fabric. Can you tell me about the hemp material. What is french terry fabric? Sounds interesting.

I made a comfrey root, calendula, beeswax salve for my cow for after miking but I've never tried anyone else's.

You will have comfrey and costmary coming from me for sure. I have iris' that will need to be divided for sure this year too after they bloom if you don't get some from someone else. Mine are a very common purple/yellow kind.

Thank you Ms Jenny. You are great!
Clara,
The hemp french terry is a heavy terry but with a shorter weave than regular terry. What I have is 55% Hemp 45% Cotton French Terry organic and unbleached. I've made cloth diapers, robes, pj's, & pants for my daughter. It can be die since it's a natural color. It usually sells for about $10-12 per yard. You can also brush it out for fleece. My Beezy Baby Balm salve come sin 2oz and 4oz tins and is 100% organic.

As far as splitting iris you have to get the tuber, a few roots, and cut the fans (green part) off about 2-3 inches from the tuber. To ship soak newspaper, wrap around the roots, & put in some type of ziploc bag to hold the moisture. You can email me privately so we can arrange our trade. This is great! I can't wait to add some color to our farm's landscape.

Jenny is sending me some comfrey so I'll just take some Iris.

Hi Nicole,

I have the old fashioned daylilies, they are orange colored and the flower stalks get about 3 ft. tall. I also have the yellow Stella D'Oro ones that re-bloom, and a single yellow daylily that does not rebloom. Also a red to dark pink colored one.

Would you like any Canna Lilies? I have lots of those. I think they are the Miss Oklahoma variety. Red orange flowers.

E-mail me and let me know what you would like.

I also have yellow German Bearded Iris and purple, I think either Japanese or Siberian Iris. Have pictures of most that I can e-mail you.

Good luck with the new homestead.

Oh, old fashioned daylilies are exactly what i'm looking for! I love to have some of the the Stella D'Oro, the red/pink, & orange. Actually, I have some Cannas that we found growing in the woods. I'm going to dig those up and move them to the front. Apparently there was an old home place back there or either someone threw them away and they rooted. I'd love to see photos too! I think Carla is going to send me Iris so I won't take you up on those. Would you please allow me to pay for shipping?

I will look up the photos tonight. Hopefully, they are digital. At one point I was still taking pictures of my garden with a 35mm film camera.

I could probably ship the flowers to you on Monday if you have a place for them already.

Instead of paying for shipping, maybe you could send me a bar of the doggie soap from your store?

I would LOVE to send you a doggie bar! Email me off the board with your mailing address and I'll get it out. Yes, our beds are ready for planting!
