hello sisters! Does anyone know if such activites are available to our younger girls? My 12 yo daughter wants to connect with other farming girls, swap, penpal etc like us ladies do. She is jealous when I create something new to put in the mail to a fellow farmgirl .... she says she wants to do something too.

Annette, Their is a farm kids penpal sign up under Parents and farmkids section. I would be down right happy to swap something with your wonderful daughter if she does not mind swapping with a 15 year old. Age does not matter to me. :)

I was hoping that there would be something for the young ones to do! I think that having a swap for kids is such a great idea!

You know, I was thinking about this too! I was trying to figure out a random acts of kindness list for kids, but then I thought it might (depending on the age of the kid) turn into being all about "how much stuff they got" - which it isn't supposed to be about. Maybe a swap where people are partnered up would be the better way to go. I know that my boys have really enjoyed their penpals and sending things back and forth, but I know that for the ages mine are (six and seven) if it wasn't a back and forth thing, I think they'd forget (without their mother's insistence) that you can't just sit at the mailbox and wait for something...you have to stick something in, too!!
We will keep and eye on this thread - excited to see what gets figured out!

I could definitly see it as a swap. If we can pick a simple "project" that the kids could make, I think it would be very successful. Although I do like the RAOK for the kids as well. I think it's important for kids to see that, Yes, this is a great big world, and it's easy to feel really small in it. But finding a way to link kids to one another would make them feel a whole lot more connected. It worked for me--- ever since I joined this wonderful group of ladies!
I think either one would be a great idea!

WOW! I started something.. I am so glad to see other sisters wanting to include their kiddos! I think small swaps, penpals and ROAK's would be wonderful. My daughter (and her brothers) is homeschooled and like us, age is not a factor in freindships or socialization for her... Maggie/Channah that should answer that question ;c) So ladies lets see what we can cook up for our girls!!

When it gets closer to Christmas what about a kids ornament swap? That would be fun for them!! Just an idea. It could be homemade too.

I think you should do both! :) I think you could do the bookmark swap now and the Christmas ornaments swap when we get closer to Christmas. But don't follow me ladies, do what you ladies like. :) I just can't stop coming up with ideas. lol

well since I started all this I should take the reins ;c) Lets start with the bookmark. I'll close the list on the 10th, all swaps should be mailed by the 20th.. does this sound ok to you ladies. When posting your children include gender and age, this will help our swappers create something that is appropriate to the age of the swappee.

I listed the child first and then the parent since most of the kids will be doing this through the parent member. Please pass the word to our fellow sisters, I'd like our list to be a little bigger.
