he was born this morn, his mama is a black whiteface and his dad is a seminole, he is big and healthy, and will add to the freezer quite nicely in the future. One of my other black whiteface heifers is showing signs of labor , so i should have another before morn. then there are two more black whitefaces after that and my swissbrown dairy is due next week, and I hope she drops a heifer.

Second calf was born, that next morn, and yes a bull calf, yeah, then this afternoon, and 3rd came, and is a heifer, will probally sell her, don't like to butcher heifers. The 4th cow is now showing signs of labor too, so keep your fingers crossed, its a bull calf.

Marly, it is pretty rare for twins, and alot of times they do not survive, and I've never heard of triplets.

The 4th beef heifer dropped a nice healthy bull calf, I am so happy about that and my swissbrown is now getting very impatient for her calf to come, had to seperate her from the other mama's,cause she was trying to steal a calf or two, lol. Keep your fingers crossed that it is soon, so she will stop bellowing, and that its a heifer, I want to have another milk cow, and Molly Moo Cow is such a great milker and Mama, a daughter of hers would be great.

Sherry, no shots, they have what they need in pasture and some supplements. All the cows and calves are great, and the weather isn't bad today so all is good.

All right, Teresa! I'm so happy she had a heifer. Those Brown Swiss are beautiful cows. And they look like they would be great milk cows too. How much milk do you get from her when she's at top production?

teresa, how wonderful is that.i wish you were closer. you have a girl. wow i am so happy for you. i think i would be pinching myself. i want girls out of isabella the 3 teat rescue cow so BAD. and out of my mini jersey cross. i aid with reg. semen a mini jersey bull.so i want girls REAL bad. my neighbor has part of the herd i have. they had their second heifer today. its a white park throwback. its out of a white park dexter bull. i have one white heifer so far.i bought a cow white park this week. she will calve in may. hoping to milk her. she is a little heady but i think she will calm down. so are you done now with calving? sounds like you have plenty to keep you busy. are you share milking or are you bottling the baby? i share milked and i got no cream. so i am pulling the jersey calves and bottle feeding. happy days on the farm so many farmgirls with babies now. so awesome. now were rooting for channahs goat. sherrye

Sherry, all the calves are doing great. I live in a valley, called high desert, in So Cal, right at the border of Kern county and LA county, at about 3800 ft elevation. My D-in-law helps with milking.

we lived in santa barbara for 16 years. raised our 4 boys there. lots of dirt bicycle events and skateboarding in la for them. i worked in hospitality down there. loved it always a challenge. managed restaurants in pismo and los olivos. where fess parker has his winery. having fun up here now. i was born and raised up here on the ocean. commercial fishing. papa was raised on a dairy here. so we are glad to be farming. i absolutely love milking and making cheese. how many are you milking now? sherrye
