I thought I had seen this before and posted. I guess I didn't. I am a small farmer, I guess. I raise market gardens. I also sell eggs. I want to start raising meat birds. I have milk goats and make cheese and have milk and sell goat kids. I am also going to get our little house fixed up and ready to be a Bed & Breakfast. I am excited about that new venture. It will take a few months to get it ready.

I have a fun profession. I have a petting zoo and pony ride business I go
mobile all over the Dallas / Ft worth metroplex. I used to do clowning
and did facepainting and balloon animals but don't do that so much anymore
I am busy with the animals now.
People comment all the time that what I do is a wonderful ministry.
I didnt used to quite get why they say that so much
but lately I have.. I see how the animals I have seem to really touch
people. I have been blessed with exceptionally wonderful animals with a lot
of personality. (smile) each one is a special blessing.
I also breed wallabies (mini kangaroos) that is how I got my name
Kangaroo kate. They are my main joy in life.
I am socializing a new baby capybara right now which is
a new challenge and just took in two guinea pigs to go with the capybara to do
educational programs for schools, libraries and churches.
I do Aussie Outback programs when I have a joey on the bottle. I am about to
start a bunch of summer programs starting in June up to July with little Kyeema.
Right now I have a mob of 4 adults and 8 month old kyeema. My mob was larger
but had some tragedies the past year or so and lost some of them. I am
considering getting a big red kangaroo joey maybe a bit later on for the
education programs. they are awesome!
I have babydoll sheep, fainting goats, royal palm turkey
who is a total hoot..loves his job and children, goose that doesnt know she
is a goose, one funny litle duck and her flock of 3 other ducks, 5 rabbits,
1 wonderful llama who is also guard for the wallabies, looking to get a pot
belly pig soon. I have 3 ponies - two are miniatures and one beauiful boy that
is 10 hands tall who is the pony ride pony. wanting to find time now to start
doing parelli horse training with them, been wanting to learn that.
All of my pets are my babies and are all family to eachother
Actually most are co-dependent on eachother. ha
i am "mama" to them all.
I used to raise a variety of exotics and did education programs, but got sick
with kidney failure a few years ago and went on dialysis so ended up rehoming
all but the wallabies. I have had, ring tail lemurs, fennec fox's, springhaas,
coatimundi's, patagonian cavies, hedgehogs, sugar gliders, prairie dogs. raccoon.

I also do some quilting.. so far have been working on some quilts to give to
special roo (kangaroo)friends so have been quite busy with that. Hope to have
them finished up soon been working on two of them. just finished up one for my
mother got to get a photo of it. will then apply on the quilters badges. I made
one historical quilt a time back with blocks of various things in our countries history
and the statue of liberty on the back. I am thinking of putting it up for sale soon.
spent many hours on that one! made it for a quilt contest at the time.

I am about to get my 46" floor loom out of storage and get it working again!!
used to do a lot of weaving until I got married and it got stored..loved making
bed size coverlets. well it is dusting off and I am getting it going again!
I got a spinning wheel not long ago off craigslist and it is wonderful!!
I now have wool off my babydoll sheep and llama so ready to start learning to work that up.
I am hoping to get a couple alpacas from someone who may donate them to me..
waiting to hear about that, that would be some wonderful fiber to spin!!
will also be taking them to nursing homes for regular visits if that gets worked out.
I have been a homeschool mom.. son just turned 18 and is finishing up his highschool
on line course. So now I am focusing on my business pretty much full time now.
Want to expand now that I can work full time. Want to get chicken house made
and get some good laying hens too. so much to do and not enough time. (smile)

I thought I had posted on here as well. I live on 24 acres in north central Texas. I farm a bit. This year I am trying out being a "personal farmer" meaning I have a few customers who wish they could grow their own food. They buy what I grow and I just take it into my office and they pick it up. My office is in Dallas. I am a massage therapist and Herbalist. I have been doing both since the early 1980's. I love my work so much it is not work. I have clients that have come to our business since the early 70's when my mother (MT/herbalist) started working in Dallas.

My mom lives with me now. She is 88. I am single with no children except for the animals here. I try to support all who make all natural products.

I am a manager with Nature's Sunshine and have been since 1982. I also sell New Sun products and am a retailer for Life Extension. I sell HTE products which are far infrared products and are great for aches and pains. I also am a distributor for Ardyss International. They make some serious support garments. Like the Body Magic where you can drop 3 sizes in 10 minutes.

I do seem to get hooked into a lot of businesses but most do not compete with the other and I use and believe in all of them.

Now am I rich doing it? No, but I do support me, my mom, and my farm and I think that is pretty good.

It was interesting reading about all of the other girls on here. I will try to support some of you as the need arises.

I'm a self employed hair stylist, and I knit. The economy hasn't been kind to people in my profession and am looking for ways to supplement my income and am thinking about learning another trade. I'd like to learn something creative that I could do at home that will allow me to be at home with my kids.

Hi Katalind, I've worked from home for over 20 years. For the last 5 years I have partnered with an eco-friendly company, not a MLM. This has enabled me to work from home. I don't stock inventory or sell or deliver products. I have a webcast that explains it. You can contact me on my blog: www.DakotaGarden.com Best wishes

So many cool things being done by cool women. I run our farm full time now. I have done many things in the past, but that is another thread. I run the farm full time. I board horses and have various land leases for growing crops. But what brings home the veggie bacon is my husband is a modern day ice man. Yes he makes and sells ice cubes.I worked with him for years but it is to hard now with the farm up and going.Ice is much different than days past - all automated and delivered in trucks. He also sells hand carved ice sculptures and if you ever saw the movie "groundhog day" he did the ice carvings in the scene were Bill Murray is pretending to make them and when walking in the park. That was his 15 minutes of fame.

I have started a blog to sell some antiques & crafts on until our FarmGirl site is up & running. It is called Grmmy's Heirlooms. I hope for it to be future heirlooms & antiques. Just experimenting I guess. Please let me know what you think.

I am an Office Manager for a natural gas production plant (not the company doing bad stuff in the gulf) I work full time plus. All day long I sit at a computer and put numbers into it. They pay me too good to walk away.

What I really want to do is to stay at home. I have worked since I was 14 years old and I am tired. It's not that I don't want to work. My days are spent dreaming that I was doing the things my Farmgirl sisters are doing all day long.

Dream #1 - spend full time on our family ranch. It would nice to focus our efforts on re-building our sheep and cattle herds.

Dream #2 - I would like to develop a camp-ground with space for RV's, a few cabins, a tipi, a restored canned ham camper, etc.

Dream #3 - I would like to organize and implement a farmers market in our area.

Dream #4 - I would love to develop a line of products and go on the craft show circuit. Now that would be fun!!

In the meantime, I continue to cultivate farmgirl skills just in case the heavens open and bless me with financial independence. If anyone knows how to make that happen, I'm open to suggestions. :o) (Btw, I've been trying to win the lotto for years. I'll let you know if I ever do win it. )

Sounds like many of us are there with you Sherone. It seems such a challenge to just be able to make it on the farm only. I wish I could be there FT also. I get in a spin sometimes with so much to do & so little time. Well we will just keep plugging away at it I guess! Good luck to us all!!

Right now, I work at home as an auditor for an insurance company and I teach online for college classes but I'm really trying to find out my "niche" to start my own business...small at first of course but I really want to do something that is more creative so my hobby right now is research! The first thing I want to learn is how to build a web page
