Yesterday I started my tomatoes, peppers, leeks, broccoli and cabbage seeds. Last year I started them way too early for my Wisconsin growing season and I started way too many! I ended up selling over 100 seedlings at a rummage sale. I got the bug earlier, but I know that Wisconsin's last frost date is around May 15th. Last year I couldn't put the seelings in until the end of May! It has been pretty nice here the last few days, but I know that is deceiving. Wisconsin the only state where you can experience all four seasons in a week.

Our last frost date is April 15 here in North Alabama but we have had alot of crazy weather too. Today it is sunny and I have a couple of windows open but two days ago it was snowing! My gardens are ready all but the compost topper. They are brand new and we are so excited:) I hope all your seeds turn into beautiful vegies:) Angelyn

Just jumping in to say that you have a beautiful garden!!!! My seedlings are in the greenhouse now. I too start to many, but I always lose a few when I move them to the garden! I can't wait until the garden season is officially underway, usually around May 10th in our area.

Diane, Your garden looks nice. I'm a beginning gardener. Had a small garden last year and am enlarging it this year. Learning as I go. We have a really nice flower/seed store next to our office and I get to see all the beautiful plants out there. They have potatoes, strawberries, broccoli, cabbage, tomatoes, onions, and lots of ferns out on the sidewalk today. Makes me want to go home and dig in the dirt.

I think I'm going to start mine at the end of March, which would be next week. Kathy, we are learning as we go here too. I'm getting that urge to go and dig in the dirt too!

What a gorgeous garden Diane. I am in Arkansas right now and have started tomatoes, peppers, melons and pumpkins. We will take them to Michigan with us where we all hope to thrive through the summer. My husband constructed a hoop house which we covered with plastic. The new seedlings stay in there during the day on nice days and come into the house with us at night and on yucky days, of which there have been more than normal here. A week ago today it was 72 degrees. Then last Sunday we woke up to 8 inches of snow and by the time the sun went down we had 13 inches of snow. Then on Tuesday it was back into the sixties!! Good thing we have lots of room in the house to keep those babies warm.!!
keep searchin'-it's out there somewhere. |
