I want to root some honeysuckle cuttings that a friend gave me. It's been in water and has not made any roots. Is there something else I can do with out going and buying rooting hormone? Do I need to recut the stems?

Thanks so much.

I'd give it a little more time. Things are still pretty dormant right now. If the cuttings are loaded with leaves then you need to pinch those off so the energy of the plant can go to the roots and not the leaves. I hope that helps.

I made a rooting pot last year the worked great, kinda like this one
http://www.extension.umn.edu/yardandgarden/YGLNews/YGLN-Mar0104.html - except I used two unglazed pots and just filled my outer pot with sand. I covered the inside pot with a saucer to keep the skitters out. I thought of covering with a plastic bag for humidity but out summers here in NC are plenty humid.

Thank you both....I am going to give it time. I took off the crinkly leaves and did see some tiny little roots starting on one of them! I put them outside today in the sun.
Also love the site you shared with me KathyC. There was even a slide show to watch. I am going to make one today! I will make tons of new plants with it. Thank you so much.
