Thanks Frannie! I work at a national historic site as a heritage interpreter. Our main era is the fur trade in BC. I get to dress up every day and talk to folks from around the world and give loads of schools tours.
The costume I'm wearing is a 1850's work dress (with a few petticoats underneath). Once you get used to it, it's actually quite comfortable. At home 1850's style is a bit out of place - but I can get away with regency era if tweaked.. heehee.
ps. laluna- love the mohawk

Lulana, love your look! I used to be a punk rock momma...a while back. Do you usually wear your mohawk up? My oldest had one for a while...it looked pretty cool down too, kind of like a pompadour.
Haha Fran, you crack me up! Yes, if only we photographed thinner and younger! But I think all in all we are a pretty good looking group!
Meggie, you are adorable in your traders garb! I bet you are about 1/4 the size without all the petticoats! What a wonderful job to have!
More! More! Let's see more!

Sweetproserpina - I want to work where you work! You look simply lovely. Being "resolutely outmoded", that's how I aim to dress every day. I'm not quite there yet, but at least I've sworn off pants for the past five years. I've yet to find something I can't do in a long, full skirt...including painting a cabin roof, which was quite the adventure.

Elizabeth Ann, I love it -"resolutely outmoded" lol! Good for you for wearing skirts (and painting the cabin roof in it!), I try to wear them as often as I can - spring, summer and fall are easy, winter is a bit trickier! I know a group of ladies through the net who consider themselves "past dressers". They don't wear modern clothing, but make their own regency, romantic, and turn of the century stuff to wear. You can find more info on them here at In Timely Fashion http://www.intimelyfashion.com/index2.html

Sweet Prosperina (hey, technically we have the same name!), I love your outfit too! I'd love to work in a place like that! (Maybe when the kids are grown) I wear skirts pretty much year round as well. I've noticed that in winter, I need the fabrics to be pretty heavy- wool, quilted stuff, or layers (or both!), and I've got myself a pair of LONG socks from Sockdreams.com, and when I've got those on and my boots, it's not too bad! Or you could wear regular socks and make leggings to wear under your skirts and over the socks. But check out the sock website, it's aweseome! :) |

Meggie, I love the In Timely Fashion website. I've seen it before through links on the Sense & Sensibility forums - where I've also seen you before! I post there (once in a blue moon) as jennywren11.

What a fun thread! Isn't it funny how we formulate pictures of each other without having actually SEEN each other?

Hi girls. It's very fun for us here at the farm to see you all too! I noticed in MustangSusie's post that she had a link to another site, but no photo, so I fixed that for her. So go back to page 9 to see a beautiful photo of Sarah and her family! Just for the record, all you need to post a photo is the address of the actual photo (ending in .jpg for the most part). Just choose the "insert image" icon when you're replying, and then paste in the address of the photo (not the site itself, which is what Sarah had posted). The forum can't read actual html code - it has its own set of coding, which is what the little icons represent.
Thanks for submitting all your BEAUTIFUL photos! Carol
