Does anyone know where to find (or have a pattern to make them) Victorian bowl covers? I have one left from a set of three I bought ten or so years ago. The one I have is white cotton, round, with a lacy crocheted border and little plastic beads. I think they are so pretty, and to use them I line wax paper underneath.

Have you tried looking on eBay or perhaps googling or binging for one? Google & bing will give you different sources,a lot of times so I use both.

Maybe I have the description wrong. There might be an "official" name I am missing. Here's a picture of one, on my tea pitcher:

Nicole... do you have MaryJane’s Stitching Room (book)? She has just the same idea in there for "fine china" as plate savers.

They look like solid round doilies with crocheted edging

You could make your own with rounds of fabric and add trim(s) to simplify... or even add beading to the edge.

Your bowl cover is beautiful! FYI they were used to keep the insects out of whatever was in the bowl. The beads were weight to keep the cover in place. If you decide to make some, use a muslin so it breaths and will make keeping it clean easy too!

I have a pattern for crocheted ones that I made several years ago. If you aren't in a hurry I will find it for you. It may be a few days because it is Rodeo season and my gelding hurt himself and needs twice daily wound care which takes some time. After next week when Rodeo is over I can look it up and send it to you. Let me know if you want it.
You can e-mail and that way I won't forget if you do want it.
