I planted 12 roots of Martha Washington that I got in a box from Lowe's 2 yrs ago. This will be their 3rd growing season. Last summer, they looked like ferns. I have got a handful of edible stalks. Is the fern look a normal thing? Should I be doing something? Right now, I let it grow and morph into a fern. Thanks... it's one of my fav veggies so appreciate your advice.

It was good that you let most of your asparagas go to fern, they really shouldn't be harvested until the 3rd year. This year when they start coming up harvest them at about 6-8 inches and they should be great. Do still let some go to fern to help nourish the root stock. In the late fall cut the ferns off, feed and mulch your bed heavily. You should have happy and healthy asparagas to come.
