Hi Farmgirls, when you were young did you do any type of dance? Such as Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Modern, or anything like that??
I am a tap dancer and have been for 2 years now and love it! This summer me and my sister are going to try Irish Dancing!! I can't wait!!
Hugs,

Channah- when I was really young I did tap. I loved it! My mom and dad moved to a different school district the summer before I started 7th grade, and I got to go to a newly built progressive school where they did things like have speakers for music in the extra classrooms, speaker tables in the library, which was carpteted, "teams" in each grade, and the big one for us girls, we were required every quarter in gym to dance! We did dances to all the new songs- I distinctly remember "I Feel the Earth Move" by Carole King and can probably remember most of the steps, even almost 40 years later! :)
I still love to dance.... when I'm by myself or with my 2 puppers. ;)
My 4 grand daughters all dance. 2 are in competitive dance, and the oldest who is 8 is showing a real talent.
Have fun with the Irish dancing, I've always wished I could do that!

Hey Channah, I used to direct a dance and theater troupe up until two years ago. More ethnic and eastern dances more than anything. But I've met dancers who know so many different styles of dance. It's a great thing.

We lived so far out in the sticks when I was growing up that we never even heard of Dancing as something folks paid for and did for fun, I would have wanted to learn ballet, ballroom, and Riverdance-(is that Irish?)

I did ballet, tap, folk and square dancing. I loved it. My youngest daughter goes to Texas Woman's University and she is doing a double major in Dance and Business so she can open and dance academy. She has been dancing since she was 2 1/2. She does everything, ballet, tap, folk, jazz, modern, lyrical, western, line even belly dancing. I wish I had been able to carry on dancing the way she has. She was even in the dance team at her school and danced with a rifle and saber. Don't give up the dancing it is just to much fun. Enjoy your time with the Irish dancing. She started her dancing when we lived in Scotland. Scottish folk dancing is alot of fun too.

Hi Channah...I am a classically trained ballerina (retired) and danced semi-professionally in NY and England. I attended a international performing arts preparatory school in Michigan called Interlochen where I was a dance major and Russian Lit. minor. My mother put me into dance classes at a young age, but, please don't laugh, I guess I was always destined to be a ballerina because I thought tap "too loud" and would stand in class with my hands over my ears!
