I am cutting t shirt fabric into strips to finish a rug I have been crocheting. I can only do so much of it at a time because it is hard on my hands crocheting that thick on a big hook. I might have it all done by the end of summer, but will have other projects finished in the mean time.

I treated myself to some yarn today (have been on a "yarn diet" for almost two years). I want to make Ric some new socks because he says my handmade socks are the most comfortable he has ever worn.
Now, I just need the energy to do it!

I have been sewing skirts for my DD and I left and right, I just located a box of zippers so expect many posts from me. But here is a little dress I whipped up to my DD today, it is unlined and seersucker, she loves to run and gets so hot and sticky with poly linings.

Hi Sisters, This is not an original idea, but I am liking the results. My husband cleaned out his old t-shirt drawer. I snatched them up before he used them for garage rags. He is a medium T-shirt and I cut 13 6-inch squares out of each shirt and am sewing them together quilt style except I use a little larger seam than the traditional 1/4 inch quilting uses. I am planning on making a throw. T-shirts this many years old have such a softness to them. I just plan on hand-tieing with cotton string in each corner of each square and will use a soft batting in-between with another panel of t-shirt squares on the back. So far it is turning out wonderfully. This is not a project for the perfectionist however because T-shirt material is stretchy and you must forgive some of the exactness that master quilting would require. I have a feeling this will be my favorite throw to use this fall in our desert climate. When I have completed this project I will post a photo. It will take a few weeks as I am busy with other things to. But I wanted to share this idea. All the scraps from the t-shirt are so soft I am just going to stuff them into a throw pillow I will make instead of batting or filler. The soft white t-shirt throw fits in with so many current home designs I see in all the catalogs. Have good days! Annie Farmgirl Sister #3655 |

Well, I finally got my pictures downloaded from my camera onto the computer. I wasn't too impressed with how the picture turned out, I think she could have taken some off the top of the pic & added at least our hems into the picture...
And now I can't take any credit for the dresses for our 1920s/1930s Ladies Night, because Mom ended up doing them lol. She was doing mine (the purple one) anyways, but then I was having issues with my friend's dress (apparently 1920s sizes are not the same as 2000 sizes lol), so I had come home for lunch & found Mom ripping out the entire dress to see how I had put it together! Oh boy, I have to say I was not impressed...and then I was kind of worried that she wouldn't have it done before she had to leave. But she got it done, and it looked way better than what I had...so all was forgiven lol. Hopefully this picture turns out & isn't way huge. I'm not sure how to re-size it if it is....

Started Ric's socks, and then a project for myself: a silky, green fitted dress like the ones Jackie O used to wear. I really just have to put in the zipper and hem yet. Ric almost fell over in his own drool, so I think it must look good!

Been away for a while, but WOW! I'm admiring the crafts and projects I've missed. I finished up a beginner stained glass class recently and here are my projects. The star was the 1st project. Have to put this on the back burner or a while though.

I am in the process of redoing my home (little at a time) in the Primitive/Colonial style. I found a really cheap way to make my 1990 indoor house chime look more primitive. The original box was just a stained color wood, very plain front and the brass chimes on the side. So I went to Home Depot and started thinking what could I possible do to improve this look. I found a detailed molding approximately 8" x 4" in unfinished wood. Bought that came home and painted the woodfront of the chimes that was just stained wood. Then I sanded and painted this molding and glued it to the front of the chimes. Saved a lot of money compared to purchasing another primitive/colonial chime.

Sure the Jean skirt would be Butterick 4025, the blue and white stripe is Simplicity 2184, the tan is Simplicity 4188, and the plaid is the fuller of Butterick 4025. I get my fabric from a small mennonite store about 40 minutes away from me. It is a drive but the quality is amazing. I get all my patterns at Joanns when they are on sale eg, 1.99 or a 1.00
Just let me know if you need anything made. I have tons of the plaid and can get more of any of the other fabrics.

Joan, brilliant idea for the colonial chime!
Emily, I love your skirts! I like seeing women dressing like this. Also, love your shoes!!
I hesitate to wear skirts longer than mid-calf (since I am so short..come from the land of the munchkins..lol) I would like to wear long skirts while working outside..however, I worry about creepy crawlees finding a dark place to hide.

Judith...had to laugh at your worry over creepy crawlees finding a dark place to hide. lol
And how short our you my little munchkin??? I have been called that for years myself. Even last night at Bible Study one of the gals stood talking to me...and out of the blue she says, "Gosh, Peggy how tall are you? I forget how short you are until I stand right next to you." I am 5ft 1 1/2 and I never leave the half off. lol
I have never really liked wearing skirts because I am very short waisted as well as short. Now as I have gotten older I am affraid my boobs would hang to the waiste of the skirt and I would look even dumpier. I don't even own a dress any more. But I do love to still see women in skirts and dresses...I am shocked when I do. Even at our Church we wear jeans. The first year we attended the church we go to now Easter was coming up and I said to my husband, "What do we get for Easter clothes this year, New Jeans?" Oh, how times have changed.
hugs and smiles, peggy

Hey, Peggy..I'm 5'1". (used to be 5'1 and 1/2". I have 8 birthsisters. Only 2 are taller than me. Our birthparents were about 5'. I always dressed up for work (as a secretary). When I wore slacks to work I noticed some people didn't take me seriously. (Like the idjit....I know its not nice to call names... who said, "You'rethe Mayor's secretary?) I was up on a ladder hanging art work that day. Shouldn't have let it bother me..but it did. I wanted to respond: Youhave a degree in PR? Oh, well..now I just say best things come in small packages..so does dynamite. Or, being this close to the ground gives me the perfect opportunity to commune with nature..want this bug?

I took some leather scraps, old snaps and black elastic, and made these chokers. I'll be offering them for sale at our recycle fair next month.

Sewing up aprons, quilts and many more items for my small home sewing business. Last night I just finished up a big sister little sister apron combo. Finished a quilt top. My business is Aprons and More by Laurie. I sell aprons and home decor at craft shows and on my etsy site. Happy sewing! Laurie

pillow slips when I was a girl in New Orleans meant something fancy. A case was just a covering for the stuffing. A couple I have done.
