I have never seen exactly how to do this...now I love them.
Easy peasy, no machine needed. What do ya think? What about a sew-along or a swap?

cool! let's do a trade! Have you looked at the ones online? I've got supplies...tell me if you have a color request.

I like anything but cats. The only requirements for Dotees are size from about 3 inches to 6 inches, with face, hanger and tail.

I am not into cats either so no problem there. can we give each other about a month so I can have some time to really think about this one. they are really cute. i thought those were legs not a tail!!! hehehehehe silly me!!! Does she have a pattern at her blog or anything or do we just make one up? I will have to pull some supplies out and give this some thought!!! I'm in!!!

I think a month is good. It looks like no pattern is needed. The basic shape is up to you...I have seen some with the bodies a simple rectangle...but I don't think they looked good. Did you enjoy the pics?

This is a pic of the first original pattern.

Here is a pattern....all those I have seen are simpler: the shape of an oval with the face made from felt sewn on it.

YAY!!! When do we have to have them ready to mail by? I showed them to my 13 year old daughter and she wants to try them too. I have four quilt squares to finish tonight for a swap, then I can start playing!

Take care, Melissa.

oh those last ones with all the beads and sequins are really cute~~ but they have a head with what looks like a funny hat... the hanger is the top part?? but they are cute!!!Sorry I will be in the swap but don't want to be the swap mommy!! If there is only the three of us I think we can work it out to send one to each other. we would only have to make 2 to do that...??? what do you guys think??

Hello Linda!!!! How are you? I have just pick up another doll who cried to come home with me. Funny thing is that when I got her home she matched another one that I had rescued a while back. A Saucy Walker. So now I have two I have to fix and dress. Love the Dotee Doll. I will see if I can get a few done this weekend, staring a new job next week :>(, and maybe I can join your swap. P.S. I love your saying!!! It so describes me. I even have it on a T-shirt!!!!

Hi Betty Jo,
I saw your post about the dolly calling to you. lol My life is going thru changes...not all bad...but some are health related.

I am also on a site called swapbot.com we are swapping rescue doll we fix up(used from thrift store). I have an old Madame Alexander used naked doll..I'm going to make an outfit for her for the swap. Her legs are funky...not dirty but hanging too loose...I don't want to try to fix that but maybe the lady I send it to will want to.

I've got some fabric picked out...some will be from a repurposed camisole..with lace and sequins on it. A permanent marker for face and fancy buttons to go on them somewhere. Some buttons look like candy! Yarn makes good hair...various colors. The dotees are small and can be stuffed with cotton balls, floss makes good hangers and tails. Floss would be cute with buttons or beads on it....so there are my ideas...I have the supplies collected.

I have my fabric all cut out and one face embroidered on. Hubby took me to Joanns today and I picked out all kinds of beads, flowers and funky yarns for their hair. It's as much fun thinking up different doll styles and buying the supplies, as it is making them! :)

Take care, Melissa.
