Terri- just make sure you put PUL fabric as the one of the last layers towards the panties side so that any moisture won't leak through. I have found when I did Nora's diapers that the microfiber clothes are super absorbent and sometimes you can get them at the dollar store or some times five for $10 in the auto section at walmart. It might be a little expensive at first because of the microfiber clothes and the PUL is a bit pricy too but I am sure it will save money right away. I will admit I have a slight incontinence issue since having Nora- especially when I sneeze so I am always monitoring myself to see if I need to go to the restroom. I have noticed that if I have any urge at all to go I should just make the trip because if I sneeze then I would leak. :( It's not a fun issue to have. My heart goes out to you!

Just a little addition to what everyone else has said, you can buy a diaper-making material called Zorb (basically the same thing as what you see on the Shamwow commercials) that is super higly absorbant and ultra trim. This is great to use in pads because it absorbs a lot of moisture without the bulk of the microfiber towels. I've used it to sew diapers.

I have the same problem...I think I'll use your ideas ...I guess you would have to use safety pins to keep in place?

Actually Linda, if you click on those pattern links you will see that the pads have "wings" that snap or velcro under your panties. This pretty much keeps the pad in place. At least it works that way with my menstrual pads. I've never had problems with them staying in place.

If you have access to a library Amanda Blake Soule has a book out called Handmade Home. It is geared to homes with small children but she also has alot of other wonderful things/patterns for anybody. She has a simple pattern with good instructions for what you are looking for with a plastic snap closure. Good Luck
