I made heart-shaped donuts for my husband last year that were a big hit. Unfortunately we're dieting this year so no donuts for us. :(

I made the upper crust chicken pot pie (minus the chicken this time) from MaryJane's latest issue. I cut the crust into hearts and placed 2 overlapping on top. They turned out very cute and could make a sweet main course on Valentines day before all of the yummy sweets ;)

We also usually do heart shaped pancakes in the morning with strawberries heated with the maple syrup just before serving.

I love Valentine's Day!

breakfast will be pancakes with red raspberries in them
Lunch is heart shaped sandwiches,(I even dyed the bread red)
Dinner is gonna be a big ol pot roast, my late hubbys favorite with ...
desert being a red velvet cake with white icing and little pink and red hearts on it
then I will sit and remember Valentines past, when my late hubby was still here with me

I made these Brownie Cupcakes yesterday and they are yummy!

The recipe said to "frost" them with Cool-Whip and garnish with a maraschino cherry. I just left them plain as we don't eat Cool-Whip and they are good without any "frosting!"

Brownie Cupcakes

2 1-oz. squares semi-sweet baking chocolate
1/2 cup butter
3-4 cup chopped walnuts
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 eqqs, beaten
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Melt chocolate and butter, stir in nuts and set aside. Combine remaining ingredients, mix until well blended. Add to chocolate mixture, mix until just blended. Pour into paper-lined muffin cups. Bake at 325 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes. Allow to cool completely before frosting. Makes 12 cupcakes.

I have this OMG to die for recipe from Glamour magazine for cupcakes with cheesecake filling and ganache frosting. I've made it in the past but never for my husband. I think I might make them this year.

It used to be that Valentine's Day was the one day a year that I'd cook a gourmet supper. You know, steaks with wine sauce, duck, stuff like that. Now that I've got a 3-year-old and no free baby-sitting nearby, cooking romantically for two isn't so easy anymore.

I am planning on making home-made ice cream with home-made chocolate sauce and strawberries. We have so much snow I thought I would put it to use as the ice for the ice cream freezer!

They are all good-sounding recipes. You are all so sweet to take care of others. It's a farmgirl thing. Thanks. Bonnie
