I am thinking of making http://sewtakeahike.typepad.com/sewtakeahike/2010/01/a-cat-house-tutorial.htmlthis for Pinky, lol. (just thinking mind you lol)

But the pattern calls for PELTEX. Is that just like the regular iron on stuff you use to sew on a badge (forgot the name duh)
IF not, can I just use that iron on (or sew on) stuff??

Clear as mud right lol

It is a heavy fusible interfacing that is sold on bolts in fabric shops. I use it in the bags that I make. It stiffens the fabric and will make the walls and roof of the cat house stand on their own. That is really a cute project. Might have to try it myself for my 2 kitties~Let me know how you make out with it! After you are done thinking about it:)

Thanks Barb and yes that is the name (interfacing) I couldn't remember lol. Now I know what it is, I'll have to see what I can use instead of that. Can't afford a trip to the fabric store duh. But guess I do have some stuff in my stash :)

Marian, I googled peltex, and it appears to be the brand name of a very firm iron on interfacing which will allow the walls of your----project---- to stand upright.

Because I live at least fifty miles from a place to buy it, I wondered if you could get the same effect with a few layers of regular iron on interfacing, which I always have. Or maybe use double layers of fabric and have a pocket for each wall which would hold a stiffener which could be removed for washing, like plastic needlepoint canvas.

Now I'M clear as mud....

Rosemary, no you ARE very clear. I was thinking along that line as well. Maybe not with the PC but with heavy cardboard...:)

Great minds...etc etc...
