I am new to this so if I do it wrong Sorry!
I live in south Texas on a ranch. I love my life but I do feel isolated. I am empty nesting and my husband works 2 weeks gone and 2 weeks home. I have raised 4 children and have one more at home. I find myself alone alot of the time. Just need some connection. I love MaryJane's mag and thought I would give this a try.

Simply Thankful,
Cynthia

Howdy Cynthia from Texas. Glad that your here on the forum. Long time ago I used to have 3 day old claves that other ranchers would let me take care of them and feed them when momma cows didn't want anthing to do with them. Also raised chickens and my parents had a cattle ranch in Devine Texas but had to sell it due to health problems. Really miss it. We live in a small town called Alvin which is about 40 minutes north of Galveston, Texas. Love to talk and get to know you. My children are all grown to.

Hi Cynthia, welcome to MJF. I live in Houston, but have horses and want to have my own ranch some day. I was an empty nester for a short while but my oldest had to move back home when she got laid off. I found MJF last year and am getting more and more involved.

Hey Farmgirl, no ranch here just a little poultry farm. Be glad to vist with ya, and exhange ideas and funny stories. Magnolia is about 40 miles NW of Houston and just south of the Texas Renaissance Festival.

When you free your mind your heart can fly. Farmgirl # 714,

I live on a big ranch but I don't think you'd really call me a ranch-girl anymore as now hay/wheat is raised, not cattle. I'm more a horsewoman than a rancher in my heart anyway. But I understand your feelings of being isolated. This site is great for talking. If you want to talk, there are plenty of ladies who is will talk, if you only want to read and enjoy, then do so! No pressure.

So, welcome, welcome!!

Thanks for all the responses!! Pearsall is dead center between San Antonio and Laredo and we live West of Pearsall. I know right where Magnolia is my mom lives in Hempstead! This is fun and takes away the lonelys. Our ranch is kind of dormant right now, no livestock, just cats and dogs and the occasional grandkid running around. Our house is 100 yrs old this year and needs some work. I have no heat just fireplaces (4 of them, that takes alot wood) and space heaters. That makes things alittle difficult. I know you northerners are laughing now!! My grandmother says this house doesn't warm up until August. It was great when all the kids were home and there were more bodies and help to heat it. But it's alot work when it's just me. I love all kinds of crafts and try to keep busy. I love hearing from all of you. Keep Chatting!

Simply Thankful,
Cynthia

Hi Cynthia,
Hang in there. You will come through. When you're in the middle of something stressful like; having young children, moving, losing a loved one, etc... it feels like FOREVER. After years pass, it looks like a blip on the time radar. Right now may be your forever time, but it will be a blip. You're doing great things with that ranch.

Blessings
Catherine
