My mom stopped by my house on her way to my sister's just to see if I had water and to check out my fat man that I've been working on. She called me while I was waiting for my oldest to get out of middle school and let me hear one of the most beautiful sounds- running water!! I got home and checked and made sure there are no leaks and we are all clean. It is such a wonderful thing!! Praise God! HE answers prayers! I just want to thank all of you that have prayed for us and kept us in your thoughts. I am praying that everyone else gets their water and car problems fixed soon too!

The water pipes under my mobile home are frozen solid. I guess you never notice how much you use water until it is gone. It happened last night. That's not all though. The kids and I were heading out this morning to fetch some water for flushing the potty and drinking and what did we find when we got to the car? A dead battery! Thankfully my sister lives close by. She came and gave us a jump. We made a pit stop at AutoZone for a new battery and then to mom's to fill up jugs of water. Probably not going to see above freezing temps till Monday. Just needed to vent some.

Don't ya just hate that? When we have no water I'm always going to the sink. Then I get all mad because there is none. It's not fun but not too much we can do about it. I hope it warms up enough next week to get them thawed out.

The hot water to our kitchen sink often freezes when we get below zero, even then it depends on the direction the wind is blowing. We thaw it by running a space heater on the pipes under the sink and a hair dryer to the pipes from the basement. It helps to prevent freezing to let a small drip run through the night or start it really early in the morning, the coldest time is usually close to dawn. Sometimes pipes burst from freezing but we haven't had that happen. Waiting for it to thaw by itself could take a long time. Can you get any heat to your pipes to thaw them? Be careful though. A lot of house fires are caused by people trying to use a torch, or leaving a heater unwatched! Sorry about the battery! Is it unusually cold in your area this year?

Sorry, not a good way to start any day. Before you go to bed or if you're not going to be home--leave a pencil size stream of water running in one faucet. I usually do the one in the kitchen.
It sure is really cold---even for Indiana. Take care!

Hang in there Melanie...no fun! I remember one winter our water was frozen for over 2 monthes....I was only in gradeschool, but it seemed like the longest winter EVER! Stay warm :)

I hope you get thawed out Hosanna. It sure is a pain in the rear.
Susan, we usually see cold weather here, just not usually as cold as it has been here lately. Our normal for this time of year is about 40 for the high and 24 for the low. But the last 2 weeks we have been right at about 20 for the high and 7 for the low. We are finally nearing the end of this "artic thing", well according to the weather man. At first he said Monday would get above freezing, now that is pushed off till Wednesday. But Wed. we should see 40 degrees and it should remain there the rest of the week.
The maintenance man had pity and came and checked on us yesterday. See I own my mobile home, where a lot of the others in the park rent their homes. So anything that happens to my place, is mine to deal with. But Jeff is a good guy and he know how bad these pipes can get around here. I have lived here for five years and have never had the pipes freeze up before this winter. We found what happened- the heat tape that is wrapped all around my pipes wasn't working. The outlet it was plugged into wasn't getting any juice. So we ran a drop cord outside and and got that plugged back in. And part of the skirting had been pulled loose in the back. I am hoping that it hasn't ruined the water heater or the main valve. The water heater I could deal with, but if the main valve busts I am in a deep doo-doo.

Frozen Pipes! Yep, we have had some of those days too. I hope everyone is getting back to normal. My heart goes out to anyone with water problems.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

We woke up to frozen pipes this morning and so did my step-daughter. Jim & I had put in extra insulation where we thought the problem was and also put a heated pipe wrap around it, Jim made sure it was plugged in before we went to bed but the pipes still froze. We used a hairdryer and that worked for us, tonight we will leave the water run a little. Poor Jaimie has 3 kids with sore throats, no water and she's pregant. Your not alone, I hope you get running water soon.

If the pipes are frozen under the sinks inside the house it will help just to leave the doors open to the cabinets, that way the heat from the house gets in there. We lived in Alaska for years and when they built our house the put regular heat vents under all the sinks. It was great to wash dishes and have the heat come out from under the sink. Hope things thaw out for you guys.

Despite all our best efforts, we ended up with frozen pipes twice last week. Fortunately were able to get them thawed without the pipes bursting. Thank goodness. I think that is just the way it goes in the winter time. It's unfortunate, but we don't seem to be able to get through a winter without at least one frozen pipe experience. The incessant sub zero degree temperatures and winchills have not been helpful either, and we ended up having some of our old heat tape short out which caused the first frozen pipe incident.
Hope this is the only time we all have to deal with this type of thing this winter. Wouldn't that be nice?

Ohh. Ours usually freezes in our mobile home but so far so good. I keep the bathroom sink with a drip at night. Its frigid down here. Good luck.

You know crazy as this may sound, it hasn't been as miserable as I thought it would without running water. We are on day three of no water. Today we had to break down and go to the laundry mat. Just wash, brought everything back home to dry. We've been filling water jugs and taking baths at my mom's house. The only thing I have found so far that really frustrates me is- I didn't realize how many times a day I wash my hands and how it's somewhat difficult to do now. So today I broke down and bottle of germ-x. I don't care much for the stuff especially this time of the year. It just dries my skin out soo bad. But it's better than crud.

Melanie...I could swear you were living at my house! We found we had a huge water leak where a pipe had busted and run all over the bedroom floor. (Our pipes froze last year and busted all over the place. We just got them replaced)
This weekend our car finally died and is going to have to become scrap metal.
Know that I know what you are going through and am praying hard for a good thaw. Glad you were able to get your sister to jump the car for you. Hang in there, Spring WILL come!!!

We also live in a mobile home, and try to keep a slow stream of water running in the bathroom sink.
But with visitors and kids accidents happen. We have found if we unhook the dryer vent to vent under
the mobile home it will warm up enough to defrost our pipes, luckily the frozen pipes and dryer vent are
in the same area.
