I say if you're still enjoying having Christmas out, leave it there!! My mom was a stickler about taking it down on New Years Day, but as she got older, she seemed to just love her tree, and kept it up until a day or two after the new year. I was soooo happy with my tree and other dec. this year, but did take them down a few days after New Years, but I hated to!!

yup.. it is still up but then again we didn't put much up this past year. Just the Charlie Brown Tree, and our stockings! Oh and all the Christmas cards that Abigail, our beagle got from her pals at dogster.com are still on our door!

Cards are still up but tree and everything else was put away this past Monday.
I try and do it day after New Year's or whenever the motivation and days off correspond.
A friend says she laves hers up until Jan 8 or whenever Epiphany is. That's kind of a cool tradition

Really weird for me this year as I did not even put the tree up! I had a real simple Christmas with just some stockings and greenery and a rosemary bush pruned into the shape of a Christmas tree. It is so different with my children all grown and gone and neither one got home for Christmas this year. I really did miss the decorations but the clean-up was easy.

Well, my tree and decorations are down but just in their basket in the living room. Does that count as being down?? I am in the process of totally cleaning out the spare room and closet where all the decorations are stored, sooooo it may be a few days before the decorations get put up for the year. They don't look too bad in the big red basket in the living room though.
keep searchin'-it's out there somewhere. |

I took mine down on the 30th of Dec. I usually leave it up till after the New Year, but I had a free day and got it done. My hubby always gets a little sad when all the lights and color come down. I just didn't want to still be looking at it on Valentines Day! I have done that before. lol

We finally took the tree and decorations down yesterday while our boys were visiting with Grammy and Grampy (they are going to be so disappointed when they come home :( ). I had my hubby put the tree out back to dry out so I can take some tips I learned off of PBS the other day and cut the trunk up into rustic wooden coasters, ornaments for next year, beads and buttons! I can't wait...what a fun project and way to enjoy your tree all year round. We cut down a really nice tree this year too. I think it's going to be perfect for the project! Anyone know how long it takes for a Christmas tree to officially "dry out"? |

See...that's what I'm worried about with the boys. They were here when we put all our decorations up and they are just going to be so shocked to come home to such a non-festive home. |

Mine is still up with gifts still under the tree. I feel like a slacker. Have been preoccupied with taking care of mom. Hope to work on it today and tomorrow and get it all done.

hesitantly put away the wreath over and the greenery on top of the mantle and one last dining room arrangement......and the holly Lenox candlesticks. Hate to see the christmas season go. Now I am looking for an all year dried wreath, because I love seeing the way a wreath looks over the fireplace. I miss the tree. Hubby took down the last of the outdoor lights this morning (the ones we could see from the dining room window when we ate). Sigh....

Had to take all of ours down before my surgery, so I would not be tempted to do it after on my own, and have half of this valley yelling at me for it, lol. It does seem so dark and gloomy after wards thou, it always has.

I just did it today. I hate to take it down, but it is funny once I get started then I want it all done and put away. I usually don't take the tree and the villages and little things down all in one day. But, this year I got on a roll and just kept going until it was done! It's funny my Mom always took hers down before the new year. She was Irish and felt it was bad luck to take the old into the new. I did that for awhile too. Then figured hey, I was alive all year, I think I will take that into the new year!!

I started doing something for the kids a few years ago and they really enjoy it. On New Years day they take down all the Christmas ornaments and tinsel from the tree leaving only the lights. Then I got them some new years eve paraphenalia (paper hats, noisemakers you blow on, feathery paper masks, mardi gras beads and streamer confetti). They put the biggest pointy hat on top in place of the star and then they decorate the tree with the other items. Then they string the spiral paper streamers from the treetop down. The last part is their favorite. I get the little popper things you hold and pull the string and little paper streamers fly out. They stand a few feet from the tree and shoot streamer at it. They're 18 and 13 now and they can't wait to have our "New Years Tree". It turns out real pretty and colorful. We leave it up for about a week.

All Christmas is packed away.
Several years ago I decided that it was just too bare after Christmas, so I reserved the snowmen for January and the Gingerbread Men (& women!) for February.
Snowmen are up and smiling all over the place. Snowflake candles...crystal icicles...yep, it has "snowed" here! (I so wish it really would snow!)
In February it will be hearts...red...pink...and gingerbread!

Ours is still up. I would like to take it down. It would give DS more room to play. We leave our outside lights on through the stock show as do many folks in Denver. I like snowman stuff though so I leave those things out. |

I ran home Friday night and took all the Christmas down. Our house is so small it seems positively spacious once the decorations and tree are down. It did give me a chance to get everything dusted properly, so that was nice.

No my stuff was put away right on New Years Day. My husband helps so it doesn't take long. This year I had two trees up. One was small and the other was a large one, both fake though as I am allergic to real pine. I now have my flag for Valentines up outside of the house. It was much funnier when my kids were little, can't wait until we get grand kids.

Mine is still up . . . but I'm in no hurry. Usually put up two trees but didn't do that this year because we were in Arizona for Christmas. But I have a wonderful Santa collection, tin collection, snowman collection and angel colletion . . . amoung other things. I'll leave the snowmen up for a while longer . . . it is still winter and snowy. But, I'll soon be starting to put it away. Wanted to clean out my creative project room first . . . and I HAD to buy a new vacuum cleaner. The old one died and there was no way I could clean up after undecorating . . . So, it'll be happening here in the next week or so. I LOVE CHRISTMAS!! CJ
