.....from gigglin' chickens!"
my husband, country came up with this saying for our eggs a few years back and i have always wanted to use it as a craft item. i have finally put it on our paper bags that we put our eggs in and also on some reuseable grocery bags i am making. i hope to have a bunch of them ready when we go to the farmers market this year to sell our products and network for the farm. there is always so much to do at the farm, and so much of it is just pure fun! please share with me some of your crafting ideas and marketing ideas for your farms......and hope everyone is having a great new year!!!!!

Hi Frannie! I think we are neighbors to! I have 3 or 4 auragana hens, and a variety that make up a dozen hens and one rooster. We have one chicken we keep in the backyard because the others shunned her and would'nt let her out of the chicken house. She crows every morning....so we named her Lizzie.....You are about an 1 1/2 away from me so that's pretty close! The oklahoma gals were just talking about forming a henhouse called the Red River Hens! So see we are close :) I have never counted my collection, they are here there and everywhere, lol...That is my weakness or one of my weakness's I have. I need horse blinders on when I go to the antique shop! We have a few booths that have alot of chickens...I drool every time I walk past them! I also love chicken fabric....lol... I even have a purse that looks just like a chicken and I put my cell phone ringer on a clucking hen, ha!

Hi Frannie, I just made up the Red River Hens :) I am going to make badges for the members of it. I will just need your number and address so when I get them done I can mail them out. I have a embroidery machine so it is not hard. I have a Kayes Kitchen card that has adorable chickens in aprons doing different chores. The one hanging out clothes on a clothesline is my favorite :) I need to go to bed to. Got my grandkids tomorrow. The 3 year old comes running in the door saying bacon & eggs. lol....

Frannie, you don't use cartons for your eggs? I love the bag. I suppose they're reusable, too? I used to sell my eggs at our farmer's market but now there is a law that we have to take a candling class to be able to sell there. We can from home, though. Crazy laws.
I try to have pretty baskets and tableclothes. And colorful signs. And flowers always catch people's eye. Bright pretty colorful zinnias. And this year I will wear an apron. I hope to have soap to sell this year, too. I want to come up with a pretty way to package them to catch people's attention.
Good luck with your market. I love growing things to sell there. I love going at talking to all the people. There are several repeat customers. They love my green beans. I grow a lot og beans. Lots of work, but that's what my people want.

thanks for all the posts and comments! kristin, i love all your ideas, and i want to come shop at your farmers market. please take some pics this year and share them with us!we have used cartons in the past, but i dont like to use them, i like the idea of coming up with my own bags etc. i think i have posted before that my kids think i like doing the "marketing, tags, bags, etc" more than i like doing the farm work!!!!!! alee, how are you guys doing in the cold north? yes, my dh is a clever fellow, he is a journalist and photographer and he does come up with some funny things, usually when i am exasperated with him, ,,,,,but that is a different post! amy, you are so right, it does sometimes give you focus and boost your spirits if you go ahead and dream about what you want to advertise for your farm. have fun with it! i like to keep dream journals about my plans and sometimes bulletin boards. anyone who can come up with graciegreeneyes has to be creative! go for it we have so many creative sisters here, and they are a sharing group as well, nancy please do keep me posted on the red river mud hens!

Frannie, That saying is just about to cute for words!! Kristin, have you tried using chinese food take out containers for your soap? You can even make them yourself from different craft papers for a really pretty look. We have someone at our farmers market that makes his soaps in the shape of fortune cookies then pops them in the boxes. So cute.. |

Frannie, I'd love to see you at the market! Come on up any time. I love going. There are so many great people that come and that sell. I was just thinking about new ideas for my booth this year. And if I do sell soap, I'll need an extra table. I am just learning the soap. So I hope it will be sellable. I am making alot of it. It will either sell or we will be awfully clean and smellin' good! I always wanted to take pictures but when I get there I have to set up and then the people come barging in and it's a mad house and then it's all gone and a mess. One day I hope to get there early enough to take some good pics. The farm market mamager takes some, though. I'll have to see if I can get one from her. Or I'll find the site and put that here.
