Hi ladies!
I haven't been around in a long while. It's been one thing or another around here. Our computer crashed, the inlaws came to visit, the holidays. Now I'm back armed with a new computer (a gift from the inlaws no less!) and a little more time.
I got the new magazine today and realized how much I missed you ladies! Especially the loving women who sent their love, kind thoughts, and prayers when my little Liam was having heart surgery. For those who are curious Liam is doing terrific. Thank you!
Ok, I've got my knitting and my cup of tea. I'm off to read what you have all been up to recently.

Hello Tanna! I am so happy to see you here. I have missed your post and yes I have often wondered how Liam was doing. Sounds like things are looking good your direction. Are you ready for the blast of cold air coming our way?

Hi Sharlet!
Yes, things are going well. No, I am NEVER ready for cold air. How are things with you and yours?

Tanna, We weren't ready for the cold air either. So, we have been out all day checking everything and putting plastic and lights in the chicken coop, etc. Tomorrow we will put out hay and make a more comfy place in the garage for the dogs. My whole, big family has been sick since Christmas , so we are hoping the sickness has just about run it course. My Alo Vera plant is doing just great that you gave me. Just thought I would mention that. All I can say is I am reading for spring and gardens!

Ah, I'm so glad your aloe is doing well Sharlet. I'm sorry you've all been sick. We are recovering from a mild cold right now but nothing too bad. Lukas will be covering the winter garden before the extreme cold. I had pulled all the carrots and used them and I noticed that the collard greens and spinach we planted are sprouting. It took a lot longer than usual so I thought we bought bad seed. Now I have to worry about them freezing. We'll just have to do what we can for the babies.
I know it's a bit premature but I am ready for Spring! I love the planting and the first warm days always bring a smile to my face :)

Hi Tanna, I meant to get back on this thread one more time and got sidetracked. How did your winter garden make it through the cold weather. We had 10 degrees this morning. I almost planted a garden in late fall thinking we would have another mild winter. I am not sure if it would have made it

Hi Sharlet,
Yes, our garden is looking good despite the frigid temperatures. It is just spinach and collard greens right now. I am really looking forward to eating them though!
Our pipe didn't fare as well. One froze. It happened to be the pipe leading to the hot water heater so we had no hot water yesterday. Luckily it didn't burst and we managed to thaw it out before the end of the day and it's running fine today..
Now I am canning crab apples that I was very surprised to see at Kroger yesterday. I don't think I've ever seen them in a grocery store. DH made fun of me because I cleaned them out. Spiced crap apples..yum!
How did you fare with the cold?
