I wish I still had Russell Crowe. I would give him to you. I miss him. He was the perfect BR roo. And such a gentleman, too. Great with the ladies!

Have you tried Craig's list? Or ask around at the feed stores. I'll ask around here and if I hear of one, I'll let ya know. We have a paper that comes out every other week. The Market Bulletin. It's for Ga. I'll check in there when I get the next one. There's tons of chickens for sale.

Are you still getting lots of eggs?

See if anyone is buying any chicks mail order in your area, and if so just add to their order for a BR rooster, but I would order 2 just in case one doesn't survive, and pay them to keep them in their brooder till they are feathered.

I don't know! It is sooo cold, 18 out right now. I hope my girls are ok, they should keep each other warm right?
I was reading about "dusting" hens, when does a person do that? and what do you use?

Do you know if he is full blooded? Also, when do they need to "mate" ?
I want chicks for the spring. Is he for sale or do you borrow? Can you tell I'm new to this????

Kelly, I sent another e-mail from here. I don't know about dusting. Are you talking about dusting for mites? And as far as mating, they go at it all the time, pretty much. So the eggs are always going to be fertile. Or at least if you don't have too many hens for the roo to handle. And are you going to hatch them yourself or try to let one go broody and raise them herself? I tried the incubator once. I killed all 30 something eggs. I forgot to keep water in it. It was very tramatic for me. I'll probably never do that again. Kind of like castrating a buck.

Anyway, I hope you get this e-mail and can call about the roo. It sounds like my # so they have to be pretty close by me. Let me know what happens.

Yes, dusting for mites. I read about it in a pultry magazine, but they didn't go into it very far, I think I will do some online research. I want the hens to sit on the eggs and hatch them, they know a lot more about it than I do. My mom wants some chicks, so I thought this would be a learning experience for me and her. My dad was succesful with his home made incubator, he is very dedicated though, I'm like you and would forget to water or turn the eggs!
Thanks, I am going to go check my email.

Kelly, did you see the number? I hope you acn get the rooster. Let me know. Maybe if she's close to me, I could pick him up and meet you somewhere. Or better yet, I could bring him to you. That way I can see your cute little hen house and hens. Let me know what ya do.
