Dad is good at pulling surprises on me. Xmas day,I had 3 gifts to open. I got an Aquataine working sundial pendant,a beautiful cut & faceted quartz crystal to mount in a pendant setting, and a street sign I wanted that was on eBay but $$ needed to go elsewhere so I let it go. (Steet sign is a real one for "Moonlight Drive". So,I go in to take a shower and am thankful for my little gifts, but my instincts were telling me at least one more was coming. I thought this could be wishful thinking and reminded myself to be thankful for what I got, etc. So when I get out & we're discussing how to mount the sign so it can be hung up,I notice a BIG present behind the tree that wasn't there before. I got a beautiful Ovation acoustic/electric mandolin! Sounds wonderful!

Fantastic!!!I am so happy for you. One year (many moons ago) may folks got me an Ovation accoustic guitar for Christmas. I was a senior in high school. It was one of the best Christmas gifts I ever received. Back then they cost around $400 which was a really big deal for my family. I was just getting ready for college (I was a music major) and it was the most supportive encouraging gift in the world. I know you will enjoy it.

Blessings, Sheri

Sheri-
You still have that guitar? Oh yes-I played carols on it last night and will be playing more tonight-just gorgeous I tell you-in looks, feel & sound. I'll post a pic later in my blog. Right now I'm back to uncluttering my room which became a disaster over the holiday season. Parents are indeed the greatest!

I had a great Christmas too. My Dad restored a Hoosier cabinet, and furnished it with "antiquey" type utensils. He also included a book on Hoosier cabinets.

I will try to post pics when I can, and after he delivers it.
And I agree, Parents are the BEST!

Actually, I had that guitar for about 25 years and then my dream guitar came around - a vintage big box guild cut away that I have always wanted and they only way I could get it was to use the ovation as a trade in. I love the guild but it will never have the special meaning that the Ovation had. I hope you get as many years of pleasure out of your mandolin as I got from that guitar.

Blessings, Sheri
