I'm expecting baby #4 this summer and this little one was definitely unplanned, in fact I thought we were done at #3. I am having mixed feelings. The timing is not good and I know God has sees how the future unfolds and I'm trying to trust that. My husband is still out of work and I'm the only one working full time. I just began a new job and I'm not certain how they'll react, I'm waiting until I being the second trimester to break the news. I won't be taking any form of mat leave, we need somebody to work and my husband will just continue to be Mr. Mom (which he's doing a very good job at).
I'm just feeling a lot of worry right now. Just a quick prayer would be appreciated, just for things to work out.

Anne-Marie, some good friends are experiencing this very same thing...and you know what? Maybe I have on Rose Coloured Glasses since having Violet, but I think this really IS an unexpected blessing for you and your family. You will make it, your dh will continue to be Mr. Mom, just like mine is and you will cherish every single second of this new life. The universe picked you to be this baby's mother for a reason!

Relax and enjoy this time. if your husband is being a good mr. mom and in these trying times at least one of you has the job, you are blessed. God does know what he is doing so take a big deep breath and let it out slow and please have fun with this new baby. It is a blessing, they all are unplanned or planned. God planned it so there really are none that are unplanned....

Thank you all. I know it's silly to worry so much ( but I am a self-admitted worrywart). I know in my core that all will work out somehow, it's just getting there.

Dear Knitting Mom, I am a midwife, and I have seen families adjust to unexpected pregnancies over and over again. Babies bring a certain amount of grace with them! The problems occur when families try to sweep everything under the rug, ignoring the stress and strain, staying in the denial stage of the grief that comes along with knowing the sacrafices that are going to be made in the times ahead. Odd as it sounds, there is grief that goes along with pregnancy and birth, always. There is always a loss of identity, and almost always a failed meeting of expectaions. This is because birth is a part of life, and life is imperfect. Depression is common in pregnancy and the postpartum period, so take good care of yourself and follow the steps to recovery if you are feeling symptoms. Try to do one nice little thing for yourself each day- time in prayer, a walk, a bath, a cup of tea without work or family pressure. A little joy can go a long way. I wish you the very best. Your wisdom in contacting the group for support is a really good indication that you are watching out for your personal needs, and your family's wellbeing. My Best, Mary LD Texas
