I am now from Dubuque, Iowa having moved from the St. Louis, Missouri area. I had to give up my physical "farmgirl" life so my husband could have a job. I am very homesick. Hope to connect with someone from Iowa.

Becky

Thanks for the warm welcome Jessie.

This was supposed to be in Welcome Wagon, I don't know what happened.
Sorry about that.

Hi, Becky. Please know that you can build a farmlife wherever you go. Growing things, making things, thrifting, visiting, chatting with other farmgirls who hold the same values of honesty, hard work, creativity, ingenuity and love for their neighbor will make your home glow. Come frequently to the forums, find all the things you are interested in, and I promise you will find yourself right at home. Everyone here is wonderful, and they "get it." They will all know how you feel and have the wisest advice you ever heard!! Welcome and have a very Merry Christmas!!
P.S. And bravo for you for sacrificing to help your husband. Virginia

Welcome, Becky. Sorry you're so homesick. How long have you been there? I guess your family is all in Ms? You've just joined a big family here! Just jump right on in and make yourself at home.

Hi, Welcome from a farm sister from Iowa. I was just in Dubuque with some friends this fall. We toured the winery, the museum, and many of the neat shops. It is a beautiful town. I am from the corridor between Iowa City and Cedar Rapids. You will love the farm girl website.

Happiness is having
farmgirl friends.

Hi Becky, Im not from Iowa, but I am a girl who is far away from home. I know how you feel being homesick. I miss Minnesota a lot, I am now in Georgia which is also wonderful, but very different.

(((hugs))) I bet you will make lots of friends very soon!

Becky - any time you get homesick for the farm, just come to us and we'll help to get you through it to a point where you can handle it. And Virginia is right. You can still be a farm girl, regardless of where you live. Just continue to do the farm girl stuff you can. And then, be a tourist in your new town. Marlene makes it sound like there's a lot to do in Dubuque. My heart and prayers are with you, girl!

Hi Becky,
I'm not in Iowa, but i certainly know how it feels to be a long way from home. My only suggestion is to find a way to bloom where you're planted so you don't lose your mind. and have a good long distance plan so you can call when it gets really hard. Thank God for e-mail! and yes, it tends to be harder this time of year. My heart goes out to you. the thing about homesickness is that while it feels like you can die from it, you can't.

happiness to all sentient beings
