Ok, after needing a really quick apron for a last
minute gift, I had re-purposed a lace panel for
an apron & added a fabric panel from MaryJane's
Fabric line....Well I kept thinking
about the Lace Curtain apron & how I wanted one so...Voila" here
is the latest rendiditon of it....yoyos & all!

2nd one...

1st one

they may not be real practical, but heck...I'll sure look cute serving my burnt cookies while
wearing this one! lol!

Grace, that is so cute! I see lace curtains at the thrift all the time, maybe I better think about an apron the next time I see one. No one will notice the burnt cookies when you wear this.

oh Nancy-jo
it's "sew" easy too...
just fold the panel in 1/2 leaving the top layer a wee bit shorter then the under side.
Do a running stitch across the top to gather up the waist size that you need.
then stitch up 2 sashes & a waist band. attach & there ya go, instant cute! no hemming or side stitching!
Just embellish or leave plain.
either way, an rasy & cute apron.

I made one using a silky curtain with just the lace ruffle. It is hemmed all the way around and I just added a sash for the waistband and ties. MB It is real cute. MB

Very cute idea!!! I sell aprons in my antique booths along with the lace tabletops (which don't sell very well) so I will try to make aprons out of one and see how they do! THANK YOU!

hey Nancy,.
have fun with this idea & hopefully you'll sell out and
need to make more!
Nancy, my MIL lives is Sallisaw & my dearest friend lives in
Sapulpa, that makes you & I nearly neighbors...lol!
I used cotton fabric for the ties & sash. I love quick -n-easy projects.
MB, what a great idea using satin ruffled curtain,,,hmmm now
that I think about it, even a cute printed
curtain fabric would make a cute apron....

We are sort of neighbors :) I like smack in between Oklahoma City and Dallas Texas! This town is growing by leaps and bounds! I was born and raised here and I still see something new going up everytime I go to town! I LOVE aprons! I have probably about 15 vintage ones in my booths and one left of what I made. Using vintage tablecloths in bright colors turn out adorable too! I also make curtain out of vintage tablecloths, vintage quilt squares turn out really cute for curtains or table runners also :)

These aprons are beautiful !! A cool trick is making a plain apron and using doilies for pockets. Longer dresser runners can be cut in half for two pockets. Grace, it's cold on our side of the mountains too, 18 degrees in Woodinville, WA ....!

I have even seen aprons made from the front half of skirts & dresses
If memory serves me....I think it might have been "Aunt George" who posted(2 years ago) an apron that she had made by cutting apart a dress & using the front 1/2 for a hostess apron...again just added a waist & sash ties and some embellishments....I know she did the mens shirt aprons back then.

Virgina, yep, you are 'sew' right...using vintage doilies and what nots make for great embellishments on aprons. (and toddler colthes)
As for the weather it's a whopping 15 degrees here....almost a Heat Wave! Brrrr!

Ok, now I am on search for a red lacey curtain to make a Christmas apron.... awh gee, guess I will have to make another trip out to my favorite 2nd hand stores....hee hee hee....

Wow! Those are gorgeous! I need to get my sewing machine out and make me an apron. I haven't done any sewing in a long, long, time with the exception of zig-zagging around the edges of my cross stitch fabric so it doesn't come unraveled.

It has been cold here in Oklahoma also! We use to have snow all the time but now it is a rarity. I am fixing to have wood stove number 3 installed in my log cabin. So far even when it is in the teens outside I haven't had to use electric heat, although my spare bedroom which is now my sewing room is a bit nippy on the north side, that is where I put the 3rd stove, not hooked up yet, waiting till funds allow! Ya'll stay warm!

hey Nancy,
simple to post pics here....
download your pics in Phototbucket and then to upload just hi-lite on "img" & copy....then down size P.B. go to MJF & 'paste' then you can minimize MJF to go back to P.B. to get another pic if you want of just close out if you are finished.
Stay warm...I luv the idea of a wood stove in a sewing room, sounds so cozy.

Hey Rene'
missin you babe'!
p.s. tell Santa I've been good & I will vouch for you too! lol!

Thanks Grace! I will try it! My hubby just said I'm the ( dumb cluck ) and won't figure out the pictures, lol...I did make my blog so you can see my cherry heart bib apron I made that is in my shop, or was in my shop, older picture, then my ones I have now in it. I did locate some reasonable vintage tablecloths that are headed my way so I can make more tablecloth ones. I am also working on valentine ones that look like vintage hankies and old valentine cards. I will totally switch the booths after Christmas. I have decided to put in a fabric booth because I have so so much of it and here in Ardmore we are down to only Hobby Lobby that carries fabric, will give it a try anyway. I am wanting to try to make jewelry out of vintage buttons, anyone have idea's on it? Can you tell I have ADD? Oh look a chicken......

Well today I made a valentine apron and some hot pads to match, I still haven't figured out how to put pictures on this but I did put one on my blogspot. If anyone gets a chance look at it and tell me if you think it will be a seller at the shop. Thanks!

Gracie,

The aprons are beautiful. How creative! You gave me some incentive to check my local thrift store and found two lace panels for $6.00. Nothing like have a pretty elegant apron to add to the collection.
