Mine should be in the mail by Wednesday. I'm only sending the album blocks - not enough time to do the 4 patches.

Mary, The 4-patch is made by sewing four 3 1/2" blocks together. When it is finished being put together makes a unfinished(not yet put into a quilt) 6 1/2" block. I hope that helps.

another way to do four patches if you have a number to make is to strip piece 2 contrasting fabrics, cut them to the size you need (leaving allowance for the seams) and sew your 4 patch.

Hey... I like that idea Dawn! Sounds much easier than cutting individual blocks out. Thanks.

So to strip piece for our 4 patch, would you still be working with 3 1/2 inches of width when cutting the fabric?

Julie,

As for the differences in time, I too have noticed that and figured it must be "mountain time" as I assume the website orginates in Idaho.

My blocks will be in the mail tomorrow!

Oh, FINALLY! I can now say that "they're in the mail." I mailed both the signature and four-patch blocks. Thanks for letting me play!

Ok, so we send 21 of each type square. Then we can keep one extra of each for ourselves to make the quilt, right- so we make 22 and send 21.
Oh my gosh, then what?

Mary,
I am going to make mine scrappy. I have a ton of blocks from other swaps. I am going to mix them together. If needed i will add some charms.
It is my goal to use up as many of those scrap blocks this year as I can.

Kathy,
How big will your finished quilt be?
All my leftover charms are 6 inches, blah! I'm not really a quilter quite yet, but I do have some odds and ends lying around from this and that-

Yippeee!

I really learned a lot on this swap. I'm not a true quilter- but I will be at least a greenhorn when this project is done!

Mary,
I'm not sure yet on the size. I do like at least a twin size if possible.
I have been doing this for a while now. And I learn new things all the time. But the most important thing is that you are having fun. If it starts to stress you out, then it is time to take a rest.

One other thing. About 12 years ago I lived on a farm for a short time. My land lord raised Halfingers. What a nice horse. My daughter started out feading and cleaning them. She was then permitted to ride. She took so well to them. Its a shame we had to moveout.
