Just wondering what yours are.
My family gets a little kooky. We started a tradition, rather by fluke several years ago. 1- We all have to come up with names and occupations, the stranger the better. One year my occupation was a mobile tanning van. My slogan was 'tan in a van! Yes, you can." I even made business cards and a brochure. Than each family unit has to come up with a talent. Ever seen, Dan in Real Life. Yep, that's us. It gets wild, but we love it. Weather permitting, we go for a walk after the big meal. We play what we call 'running charades' as well as lots of board games. I will have 25 people in my little house. It should be FUN!
What about you?
For tomorrow and its needs I do not pray, but keep me, guide me, love me, Lord just for today.

We do as little as possible on Thanksgiving . . . except for giving thanks!!! Our daughter and family and my husband's family are all in Arizona and we typically don't get together for Thanksgiving because of the distance. But we do get together for Christmas, either in Arizona or here in Colorado.
Thanksgiving Day, for us, is a REALLY WONDERFUL day to rest, relax and recuperate from a busy summer and harvest season. We also are finishing up projects for sale at Christmas Bazaars we do.
YAY . . THANKSGIVING!!

Me and my hunny love to plan our feast and cook together. Our house is small, but we have an island kitchen and a wonderful talent for working around each other and not getting in the way. When the feast is ready, we light the candles, hold hands and say what things we are most thankful for and remember that no matter how many curve balls life throws, there are still so many things to find grace in and be grateful for.
My family didn't ever really celebrate the holidays when we were little. So we have had to craft our own traditions and favorite recipes and such. I love it this way, actually, now that I'm an adult...but it was rough when I was little and we ate tv dinners or something for thanksgiving BLECH!!!...my poor mom never did learn to cook.

Well here, we always tell what we were most thankful for during the last year. Then we absolutly stuff ourselves, til we are ready to explode, wait oh half hour and get into the 6 differant kinds of pies, stuff everything in the frig, then looking alot like a big ol litter of hound pups that just finished nursing, we kinda just flop and nap for an hour or so, lol. then we go throw a ball around til someone gets hurt, then its back in for turkey sandwiches and more pie. i think we eat more on this day, then any 2 other weeks combined.

I forgot about the parades, especially The Macy one. I don't have tv, wonder if I can watch it on my laptop.
Annika, I love that you are forging your own traditions. I am always finding new things to add that we can call our own.
Teresa, I like how you determine when it is time for sandwiches. Hope the injuries are minor!

Julia, its just usually minor injuries, scrapes, bumps and bruises, BUT, one year, we did end up in the ER with a broken arm, (my little brother, I think he was 27/28 at the time), and it was his own fault. He tried sneaking up on my hubby from behind, and reflexes kicked in and he got flipped and landed on his arm. My late Hubby was 6'7, and weighed 285, and that was no fat< and my brother was 5'10 and 165 or so, not a good match, lol.

We have such a big family we are floaters one thanksgiving we might be one place the next another, but one thing is for sure at 7pm I'm in front of the tv watching the lighting of Macy's great tree in downtown Atlanta! I have done this for yrs and I normally come home to watch it because I want it quite so I can hear the music. Its a nice tradtion.
