I have been intending to get rid of that thing for months. And I finally did it this morning. It still sat good, but had practically no fabric covering left to it. We just through an old blanket over it. I've hated this thing and wanted it gone for almost forever.

After putting the dog out, I took one look at that chair and said that's it, it's time. Drug it to the front door, pushed it off the front steps, up into the back of the van, then hoisted it up into the dumpster, heard it hit bottom with a loud THUD. Ahhhh the sweet sound of victory.

Now my living room has a big gaping hole. Looks like I'm spending the day at home re-arranging furniture.

Hope everyone else is having a wonderfully productive day too.

I am off to the furniture store to hunt for a recliner now. My hubby's has been torn up for a long time and really needs to be outta here, too. I guess I'll be doing the same thing soon.

Melanie:
Maybe that old recliner could have become the dog bed. LOL

Oh now Marly don't go tempting me to go dumpster diving. LOL I have been thinking about getting little Ruby a doggy bed. But she's been pretty content with mushing my bed pillows around while I'm away at work. I suppose as long as she isn't covered in fleas that's ok.

I have an old chair for my sweet Luck Dog. I can't even move the furniture around because he gets all upset if his chair is not in its place. LOL
After the 2005 flood, I had drug that chair out to the trash, but Luck was so miserable. A friend helped me drag it out of the trash. We called an upholster to redo that chair. Luck loved it still. And here came 2008, another flood, and again we drug that old chair out again. Luck stood at the trash pile just looking at it. So, we drug it out of the trash pile once again. We brought it to the upholseter shop and they all but had to redo the whole chair. But Luck Dog loves his chair. LOL That one old chair has brought me such wonderful memories. It was the one thing I had from my dad, and sometimes I think my dad is in on the joke. Well, to Luck Dog his chair is not a joke. LOL Think again about that chair in the dumpster. LOL
Have a great evening.

It is not a gaping hole left behind after the chair, it is free space! I love getting rid of un-needed furniture because it opens up the room for kids to play and for people to feel relaxed in. I have come to believe that we do not have to fill every inch of space with stuff! Enjoy the freedom of openness. It is great.

Marly, have you ever thought that maybe Luck dog loves that chair so much, is because a little of your Dad's spirit is in Luck dog?

Now what a wonderful thought. Luck Dog is like my Dad in many ways. Every time I look at that chair or at Luck Dog in the chair I will be forever gifted with such a beautiful thought. Thank you. Here comes the happy tears.

Love little Luck Dog! Years ago, when we got a new recliner, I put the old one out by our trash cans, where it sat until I finally called the refuse company for a special pick-up. Meanwhile, our indoor-outdoor cat, Augustus LeCoCo, claimed it as his own. I can still see him sitting there, snoozing in the sun, even though the chair AND Augie are both long gone.

Thanks ladies. Luck is 17 years old, I think he deserves that chair! Katie, cute story about the cats on the outside chair. I have five outside cats and they sometimes sleep in my hubby's shop outside. One of the cats, Audrey (as in Audrey Hepburn) loves his shop chair. LOL

Marly, Thank you so much for sharing Luck dog with me, he looks to be as content as possible, ya know, he has a very serene, peaceful air about him, almost mystical.

Melanie, we just got the couch and recliner out and into the truck. My hubby didn't want to let the recliner go. He had to have a private moment with it. Poor guy. And we tore the couch up getting it out. I thought we could save the seat part for Bubba and put it out in the dog-cat room. But it came all apart and was a mess. So we saved the cushion for him. And I cut off the top cushion of the recliner for the other 2 dogs. So they all look happy. Hubby doesn't. But he will be tomorrow when he sees his new one. He will love it.
