I bought chicken breasts from the butcher on Monday or Tuesday of last week. They are wrapped in butcher paper--are they still good (so that I can use some tonight or freeze them) or did I waste money (and food)? I feel really terrible if they're not safe to use, but I had something going on every night this past week and they got pushed to the back of the fridge and I forgot about them until I saw them this a.m.
You need to smell them. If they smell off at all or look off-color, toss them. :( Usually a day or two is safe. Any longer than that and it's a gamble.
I was afraid of that...and you're right. It does get sticky when not utilized right away--I will go home and smell them (or, have Jus because my nose is stuffy!).
Thanks, ladies! Always the bearers of common sense!
